2020 Presidential Race

No idea if defamation applies to a company or not. Was more about Kemp being GOP and how he’s conducted himself and then gets this as an outcome? I’d be pissed.
Some of the largest defamation awards in history were for corporations.

Saying Kemp rigged the election because he was bribed is probably defamation per se, but what are Kemp’s damages, really? He wouldn’t recover much.

Saying Dominion rigged the election is dumb because they could actually lose substantial sums of money if some state legislatures cancel their contracts or use it to bargain them down.

Fair enough not my area. I just assumed an entity couldn’t be slandered had to be an individual but I honestly don’t know. Thanks for the clarification.

But as I told Ras I’d guess it was more on the amount of baby powder he is going thru based on how he’s conducted himself and how he was treated.

It’s not my area. There may be limits to when a business can sue but if Dominion lawyered up ahead of the PA legislature hearing I’d be shocked if those lawyers didn’t send Trump campaign a cease and desist letter.

I’m not sure what personal liability protections would exist between a campaign and somebody’s personal assets. That might be interesting.

You’re at least a lawyer (there I admitted it 😬) and at some point most likely studied the relevant law. I am admittedly not educated on the topic and grabbing out of my ass on the speculation

New Jersey Lawmaker Pushes To Disbar Rudy Giuliani For Deceitful, 'Absurd' Election Cases

New Jersey Democratic Rep. Bill Pascrell has filed a complaint with New York’s attorney disciplinary officials, calling for the disbarment of Rudy Giuliani for “fraud” and “deceit” in his actions attempting to overturn the presidential election without any justification.

“Mr. Giuliani has participated in the filing of a series of absurd lawsuits seeking to overturn the will of the voters ... and has caused irreversible damage to the public trust in the fair administration of our elections,” Pascrell wrote Friday to the Grievance Committee for three New York Judicial Districts.

He accused Giuliani, who is leading Donald Trump’s attack on the results of the presidential election, of “clearly” violating the state’s Rules of Professional Misconduct that prohibit “dishonesty, fraud, deceit” and “misrepresentations.”

He “should face the severest sanction your body can mete out: revocation of his law license,” Pascrell added.

New York also prohibits attorneys from filing frivolous lawsuits.
