Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Last night during the SpaceX Crew 1 launch they talked about one the experiments they will be doing. They have this synthetic system which speeds up the testing process for drugs. You can put human cells in, it replicates them, localised heart/lung/liver cells not full human dna, you can apply diseases, and then possible cures to see how they react. It was about the size of a thumb drive it looked like.

They didnt say it any was for Covid specifically, but it seemed clear that it could be for that.

I didnt catch all of the explanation and how much we use t on the ground already, but it seemed pertinent.

While true, there were only 5 cases of CV19 infection in the vaccine group. Statistically speaking, that's not very powerful data.

The efficacy numbers do look really good on both of these vaccines, and I pray that they are safe in the long-term. Time will tell. For now, I think an aggressive program targeting delivery to the elderly/at-risk population is probably warranted. From an economic standpoint, we can't afford to wait around.

Isn't only 5 cases a good thing? Hell, I'd say one or zero would be even better.

Some people, their bodies, just dont take to vaccines or certain medicines. Kinda like allergies, although without the side effects hopefully. Some people it just doesnt work.

One of my uncles was on some heart medication that just didnt work. They were so certain of the medicine they went back and tested the diagnosis three different times before taking him off it. Ended up having to go to some treatment plan that was pretty non standard.

I think the shipping and storage information may be as big of a story as the efficacy. Pfizer had already achieved high efficacy with mRNA, but Moderna also announced today they require -20C for shipping with expectations the vaccine can remain stable for 30 days at 36F - 46F refrigerated storage. That seems huge for logistics.

How many C19 vaccines has Moderna produced for distribution as of today? Pfizer has quite a few ready to distribute. That's a huge factor.

Wait, I thought Biden was going to save all of us.
Hey the plane is crashing, let's get a new pilot in here to save us. If the new pilot does not save everyone it is the new pilots fault. I love how your brain works. How do you get out of bed in the morning? Like you got out of bed yesterday morning, why do you need to get out of bed the next day?

The "new pilot" thinks he's on the tilt-of-whirl at the state fair

Pilots are forced out due to age.

Let's do that with Presidents, too.

Wow. That's twice as much as Pfizer said they had.

It appears that there are no less than 4 companies that the Trump administration proactively pumped money in order to have these vaccines ready to go to the general public in a flash. This will undoubtedly save many lives and undoubtedly he will not be given credit for doing this

It was a gamble if they didn't get approval...taxpayer money wasted because I think the manufacturers were gonna get paid no matter what...now we own at least 100 million of them
