If it was up to me, I would fire every damn one of them who rejected the pay cut today.....except for Niedermeyer. And Fulmer and Pruitt both would be on damn short leash!

What about Jeremy Pruitt? Did he give back the raise he never earned?
"Every Tennessee head coach other than Pruitt signed a contract amendment agreeing to that tiered salary reduction through June 30. Those coaches also agreed to waive any incentive compensation they would have been eligible for through June 30, except for incentives for winning an SEC championship or a national championship. Those championship bonuses remain in play."

However it is a bad look
Rick Barnes, Kellie Harper take paycuts for Tennessee athletics budget
Vols basketball coach Rick Barnes and Lady Vols coach Kellie Harper already signed amendments accepting a pay cut, Satkowiak told Knox News. The cut will be taken from each's total compensation.
Vols baseball coach Tony Vitello told Knox News he plans to accept a pay reduction.

Every Tennessee head coach other than Pruitt signed a contract amendment agreeing to that tiered salary reduction through June 30. Those coaches also agreed to waive any incentive compensation they would have been eligible for through June 30, except for incentives for winning an SEC championship or a national championship. Pruitt didn't take a paycut he just differed his undeserved raise so I don't blame any assistants for refusing. Hell most of them probably see the writing on the wall with their futures at UT.

I can't see logic in connecting team's current lack of success with paycut r/t covid, other than butthurt feelz.

I understand it but sounds like pitchforks and scythe rattling.

We should just make Chaney go vegan and juicing instead of a pay cut. His wife and family would thank us. He’d find a way to juice a 20lb turkey though.

Tennessee football: 8 assistants reject pay cuts. Martin, Graham accept

  • Offensive coordinator Jim Chaney
  • Defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley
  • Offensive line coach Will Friend
  • Quarterbacks coach Chris Weinke
  • Inside linebackers coach Brian Niedermeyer
  • Outside linebackers coach Shelton Felton
  • Tight ends coach Joe Osovet
  • Strength and conditioning coach A.J. Artis
Very telling. If we were winning I'd understand. But obviously they are under performing in their jobs. Screw them all.

Lmao, careful with that ethics arguement... That's a looooooong rabbit hole to tumble down... It's not the responsibility of those employees to mismanage the Universities finances, which has been done for years... It's not those employees that are using football program profits to prop up other athletics that don't bring in revenue... Be careful with "what is ethical"...
Well, I'm not sure about you, but I know my pockets have been affected by this covid nonsense... and I'm sure a lot more people have been impacted. Now granted, I'm not begging on the Lovell Rd or Shallowford Rd exits and wondering where my next meal is coming from, but I was personally affected.

Does that mean that they have any obligation legally? Nope. And really, there really isn't a strong ethical case other than my personal feelings about how I view the situation.

I'm sure they will sleep well regardless of what a nobody like me says on a messageboard.

Everyone in the AD took a pay cut, except these guys. Including Rick Barnes and his staff

I guess I feel differently. If I was making 1.6 million as Chaney is I think I could take a pay cut and not be upset. Just shows they don’t really care about the university or the athletic department only about themselves.

Let’s see....

They are still being asked to do the same job...but with greater risk to their health....

Yep, sounds like they should take a pay cut to me...NOT!

Jealousy is unbecoming.

Regardless of the how much they make its silly to expect someone to take a pay reduction. You wouldn't voluntarily why should they?

Weak argument. I wouldn’t expect, say an ICU nurse to take a pay cut but none of what they do is cancelled or postponed. Why shouldn’t coaches take a pay cut?
