I'm not waiting on anyone else and certainly not on the Redneck Rambos to protect me. Also, isn't it more self-reliant not to need a gun?

(1) .So you are saying you’ll call 911 faster than I will ? ( 2). Self - reliance is the act of being able to take care of a situation yourself , not the tools you use to do and certainly not having to wait on a LEO to do it for you .

So I shouldn't rely on the people who are paid to protect and serve the citizens to actually protect and serve the citizens? And instead, I should carry a gun around and place the public in danger when I perceive a threat? Sounds logical.

Aren’t those the same people that we are being told should be defunded because it’s said they aren’t doing their jobs correctly ? Those people ? You should do whatever you feel is right , you just can’t call it self reliance if you are waiting for someone else to do it for you . The difference in thought process between people that feel at easy around firearms and those that don’t boils down to fear and decision making . Example .. my first thought if someone is breaking into my home at night with my family inside will never be “ call the police “ it maybe what I would call out to my daughter on my way to the where the intruder is coming in . I figure the police will get there some time after the critical point of when I would need them the most anyway .

The police have no duty to protect you. Period.

no bringing fists to a gun fight is stupid.
I was recently attacked by a wild animal. I shot him dead and was not harmed. No gun and it could have been ugly. And it happened in a neighborhood not on my property out in the country. But go ahead and enjoy your white privilege. I hope it doesn’t get you or your family killed.

The 9th circuit just threw out the “high capacity” magazine ban in California. To get that ban passed Anywhere now will be difficult. The challenge has already been filed in New York based on the 9ths ruling. it will be in front of SCOTUS sooner or later.
