CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY OUR DBS WERE PLAYING OUTSIDE OF THEIR RECEIVERS IN THE REDZONE OPPOSED TO INSIDE......? FFS THATS SOMETHING YOU LEARN ABOUT IN MIDDLE SCHOOL...... TAKE AWAY THE INSIDE FORCE THEM TO GO OUTSIDE!

See post above. Coaching failure. If the players do not line up correctly. If the players do not use the proper technique for the situation. If the players are incompetent. Coaching failure.

Yes, he’s a RB. But you can pitch me on why he isn’t.

I think he was a beast RB in high school because he was a man against boys.

I don’t think he has that advantage in college. I don’t think he’s very fast or quick - doesn’t look it on defense.

Might be an okay short yardage back - but they don’t make tons of money in the NFL.

I think his best days are ahead and on defense, but he’s got to put in the work and he’s a 4-5 year player in college. Has to learn it inside and out to where it comes natural.

@bignewt you watchin this spread move? Down to 8 points. Did you end up getting it originally at like 13 or 15 something? Arbitrage possibility?

Got it at -13.5 but on the A&M side. Sounds like its gonna get postponed to me. Have to wait to become a millionaire I guess but hey Ive waited this long...

Agreed with all this he needs to follow the Henry T mold and drop 10-15 to get more explosive and he also needs to start shadowing that man when it comes to film study and mental work he (Henry) puts in outside of practice. The more comfortable you become with what you see on the field the faster you will play.

Obviously not a given but I believe the clearest path back to national relevance is going balls out with money/resources on a PROVEN head coach that can bring in PROVEN assistants. Now, the definition of who fits into “proven” is where the goalposts move. My belief is it’s not a Fickell, Fleck, Campbell, Healey, Bill Martin, etc. They have to go after somebody like an Urban Myer, Bob Stoops, etc. Not necessarily those guys directly but someone of that caliber and recognition that’s proven they can do it. If they choose to go down the path of Fickell, Fleck, Campbell, Healey, Martin, etc. then we’ll be right back in the position we’re in. Some of those guys may eventually be an Urban or Stoops but UT doesn’t have another 10 years to hope they can find out. They are slowly hemorrhaging and the fan apathy and lost revenue is only going to get that much worse if they don’t fast track this thing. That is... if the University even cares to. I think that’s the bigger question they need to answer first.

He dropped 10-15 coming into this year and still looks slow af. Maybe its all technique and knowledge of the position.

What we’ve all got to realize is either something is broken at UT, OR the last 15 years are truly representative of what this program is.

We’ve been through enough athletic directors, Presidents, head coaches, coordinators, and boosters to finally understand that it’s bigger than any one person or a group of people.

Maybe we’re just a middling football program now and there’s no legitimate way out. I don’t know.

We probably won't ever reach the level of Georgia, Alabama, and Florida again at least not consistently partially due to the geographic advantages and competent ADs they have.

But there is NO doubt in my mind that we should damn near always be ahead of Kentucky, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Missouri in the east as well as turn out better teams than what Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State have. We always have more talent, resources, and have better facilities.

The problem remains at the very top with idiots running the ship for 15 years and counting.

I think the feeling by many is that this is a tough job. Now, let's be honest. If the last couple of coaches had recruited this state better this program would be in a much better place. Too many instate kids going else where and having success.

So do I think it's as hard as some people around the country think? No I don't.

But my point was to everyone who says back up the truck and pay for a proven winner. My question is who is that guy.

When Butch was hired they interviewed Gundy, Strong and Butch. There was one other mystery guy who I'm told was a proven guy but things never got real with him. I don't know who that is, but I will say Dave Hart told me that I missed one guy he interviewed.

Currie tried with Mullen, who was always going to pick Florida. Chip Kelly didn't want in the SEC. He talked to Schiano, Gundy, Chad Morris, Dave Dorian and Mike Leach. Fulmer made many calls and landed with a trio of finalists Pruitt, Steele, Tucker.

So I don't know how many "proven" winners would be interested in the job. I think Hugh Freeze would be and he has won in the league.
