Recruiting Forum Football Talk II

Where in the world is Trey Smith??? He has emotional leader all over him...all he has to do is stand up, lead, and they will follow. That is so disappointing to me!!

The discussion of leadership is the most misunderstood overrated talk ever

Winning teams have leadership and losing teams don’t. It’s really a lazy narrative and overblown 99% of the time

You guys are twisting Hubbs words very badly. I read Hubbs saying the opposite.

He’s saying from the start Pruitt knew he would be accepted back with bama if this thing failed and he isn’t at the point of that happening here now.

We need to be careful how we run with quotes
“Since day one he’s he’s said that if it didn’t workout Saban would have him back on staff.” Why would you say that from the beginning? You are predicting your own failure the day you took the job.

Kirby isn’t a good coach. He is winning strictly on talent. He not only can’t win big games, he usually gets blown out.
Exactly my thoughts after watching the UF game. He wins off talent and went to the NC game off of the talent left from Richt. If we had freeze, we would legit have the best/second best coach in the east. I’m not worried about recruiting one bit either. We recruit ourselves especially when winning.

Am I the only one that doesn't want to hire Freeze?

First, I have extreme doubts that any major coaching change will come after the season. Maybe, there's some shuffling of position coaches, but Chaney and Ansley stay. Pruitt is not going anywhere unless they lose every game, and even then, I'm not so sure.

I'm not denying that Hugh Freeze is a talented, offense mind and has shown he can get players. AJ Brown and DK Metcalf were his recruits, and those dudes look like top 10 wrs in the league as second year players. What bothers me about Freeze is the sleaze and the misconduct. At least Kiffin was up front about being loose with the rules. Freeze does the worst thing. The "wolf in sheep's clothing" thing. He presents himself as saint to families, and then get publicly accused of multiple recruiting violations, which he then tries to blame on Houston Nutt. Of course Nutt's lawsuit led Ole Miss to learn that Hugh has been calling up prostitutes on his work cell phone. Then the only job he can get is Liberty, who has had their own share of scandal and questionable practices.

I don't want the dude. I don't think he can recruit well without cheating, and he's clearly shown he is incapable of cheating well. Everytime someone brings up Kiffin, you always get a crowd saying he'll be a program ruiner. To me, Freeze is that guy.

We can find someone better.

I stopped reading after your concern is sleeze and misconduct. We need to get over this line of thinking. Saban stepped over a guy that was dying while he was with the Dolphins. Do we want to win or not?

Bring me Freeze and all the WRs that will be living in the endzone.

Glad you like losing.

Even if it is, its only one more year and then we see what head coaches we can get. If you hire Tee or an up and comer, you have to give them three years and if they don’t work out, we have set ourselves back then another ten years from firing Pruitt. You only make a change right now for a proven winner and head coach. Pruitt is still recruiting well and he is an actual football coach, but may not be suited to be a head coach. I would rather sacrifice one year (next year) than risk five on another failed coach. We only make a change if Freeze or Meyer want to come. IMO of course.

You’re probably right. Especially on recruiting bc it’s not bad right now. I just see no fire or care in Pruitt on the field. I disagree that he’s an actual football coach also bc everyone looks good under Saban. You could also get a trial run on Tee this year if we made a move quick enough (we won’t). Maybe next year will be a trial run if we are indeed headed the up and comer route again.

Not going to defend obvious hyperbole Butch. Stoops is without a doubt a better coach than Pruitt at this point in their respectful careers.
I doubt it.. there’s one! By year 3? He had 2-10, 5-7 and 5-7 overall records and 4 TOTAL SEC wins. The kitty version of Smokeytom was proselytizing Butch at that point in THEIR respectIVE careers. Simma down now!

Roll with Bailey. Play the best players. I doubt we get more than 3 wins at the current trajectory, and I'm not sure we even beat Vandy.

So freaking tired of this crap. Why can we not hire a good coach?

Does Fulmer want to be viewed as part of the problem again? He has a chance to go out a hero. The fans will forgive him for Pruitt because it was an 11th hour hire by a brand new, emergency AD. It's a mulligan. He gets one more chance and this is the year to do it.

He would be an absolute hero. We’d build him a statue if he were to navigate the politics at the top and find a way to bring a proven coach here.

I think it’s actually a good kind of feeling knowing you can afford to approach a job in a way of doing it “your way” knowing there is something to fall back on. I don’t see this a bad kind of thing everyone is running with here and I hate Bama Jeremy and want his ass gone yesterday

I doubt Hubbs Is actually quoting him. There’s some artistic license in that “report”. 😏

One of Hubbs’ quotes was that this team can’t handle adversity.

One of the things I’ve always hated the most about UF is how they are such front-runners. Cocky and boisterous when things are going well and crawl back into their hole when things go south. Watching on Saturday, when we were having some success in the first half, it occurred to me that our team has become this. Think about how JG struts, skips around, guttural screams, archer mimes, etc when something good happens. Then, when the game or breaks don’t go our way sits over there looking scared sh!tless.

And it seems like more of our players are taking on this personality. Swain tweeted about it when it happened, but I think it was crouch that laid a hard lick for a third down stop, and not one player came over and congratulated or celebrated with him. I put the blame on the coaches much more than the players, but we’ve got a serious culture problem.

they havent been for years it seems.
Things start going downhill for coach A. Rumors come out, the locker room is in shambles, weird practice/workout things going on, coach allegedly said some things to some people that sound bad. Coach fired.

Coach B. comes in. Practice has never been better, players are bought in, there's leadership in the locker room. We're on our way back. Things start going down hill for coach B. Rumors come out, the locker room is in shambles, weird practice/workout things going on, coach allegedly said some things to some people that sound bad. Coach fired.

Coach C. comes in. Rinse/Repeat

Sam Pittman positive for Covid--If Pruitt caught it, who would be the coach? Chaney? I recall he was head coach for a game when Dooley left. (he won)

Jesus you just be bored today. I say Pruitt is sh!t-soup and you defend him for piss-soup simply because sh!t better suits your palette.

Not with Hugh Freeze. He’s a winner.
