I’m actually not mistaking you for a JG lover. Just trying to explain how Pruitt is sabotaging the team and may not even realize it. I’ll give you an example. You're mistaking me for a JG lover. The dude sucks, no doubt about it. It’s just there must be a deeper issue to the QB situation since JG is the guy Pruitt keeps sending out there week I week out. In my opinion, the reason he keeps sending JG out there is the decision making aspect of it. I root for JG cause he dons the Orange, but it really is a weird frustrating debate as to why he is “our best chance to win.”
Strange to be afraid of something you have constant contact with.JG's problem is his crippling fear of failure. Hinders quick decisions, makes him stare down receivers to make sure that he doesn't make a mistake. Can't psychologically bounce back from a mistake which often results in a compounding of mistakes. He should spend half of every practice with a sports psychologist.
Think about the timing of his statement. Jan 2019. The bowl game had just been played and he hadn’t had an opportunity since UK. You can’t underestimate the fact that these qbs work their entire lives to get to this opportunity and their dreams hinge on playing time. To have it taken away for no good reason has to be hard. Especially when you see the “preferred” product on the field in front of you. It’s VERY possible that Pruitt himself put BM in that state of mind to begin with. Which only makes it more impressive that Brian was strong enough to seek help on his own and speak out to help others. That’s the mark of a leader.Biggest issue is that BM had some brain damage last year. Had the concussion never happened you likely never see JG except in clean up time. With the offseason issues BM had it somewhat hampered Pruitt and Chaney on who they could go with. HB had issues as far as practice goes. So honestly it kind of left them with JG or JT. I guess just based on game experience JG won out. I think you likely would have seen some changes had those things not happen.
If JG comes back I say 2 hit the portal. If he doesn’t and JP goes and gets a transfer 2 hit the portal. If JG doesn’t come back and JP DOESNT get a transfer then 1 hits the portal after the depth chart is releasedAny QB playing behind JG is killing their chances at having a great college career. How bad does it look when you can't play ahead of JG? They won't get a fair shot as long as Pruitt is here.
The portal is there for a reason. I think HB and BM would at least have options on a different SEC team. There is no reason to play behind JG.
I was thinking the other night about the game where we played ga.tech and j.g looked upset because Dormandy was starting. Dormandy would come off the field after a drive and j.g would just sit there on bench wouldnt get involved with the other qb's on the sideline even the announcers even brought it up..
It's not new information. We have the Holly Warlick of QBs. He's a great kid, all Vol, no shortage of effort. I hate it for him, but we will _never_ improve on offense until he is done. Like Holly did, we will continue to set new bars for ineptitude. I'm not sure what the point is in playing the guy that gives the best chance to win when we aren't winning. Don't care which other QB it is, but does not make sense not to start playing for the future now.
I hate to agree and hate to admit it, but it's true, JG could derail CJP's entire career, and I'm not trying to diss JG or CJP, it's just a bad situation that CJP can't see through for some godawful reasonIn my opinion, he just does not have the skill set to play at the SEC level and should have changed schools when the Butch Jones pea shooter offense left town, he is not a pro style quarterback, he lost me the day he committed to Tennessee, on the big advertising screens in Times Square, most kids that come out of the soft private school leagues in New Jersey don't stoop to such self absorbing grandiosity before they do something productive at the major conference level. He may derail Pruitt's head coaching career path, plenty of pressure coming out of an off week
If JG comes back I say 2 hit the portal. If he doesn’t and JP goes and gets a transfer 2 hit the portal. If JG doesn’t come back and JP DOESNT get a transfer then 1 hits the portal after the depth chart is released
Why start him? He’s proven he can’t do the job. Move on and find out which other one can do it best and play them. End of discussion. Is it him starting the game or the coach keeping him in when he goes off the rails? I can see starting him but when he is not performing well, why are we keeping him in the game? If he is not getting it done, you have to pull him. No question about that.
We listen! We just don’t believe him.Pruitt has been quite clear this whole time but people just dont listen. JG is the best QB we have. Pruitt and his staff have done an abominable job of recruiting and developing QBs and that has led to this point. WE HAVE NO QB WORTH A DAMN. I dont care how many stars HB has. Clearly he isnt that good or he's be starting. Same with BM and Shrout.
As soon as people get comfortable with the face that UT has been a miserable failure at getting a QB, the faster we can move on from Pruitt.
People can say all they want that Pruitt isnt giving these guys a chance to take the job from JG. I dont believe it. I think they all suck and Pruitt goes to bed every night knowing this fact. With the new red shirt rules and everyone getting an extra year of eligibility theres no reason for Pruitt to hold back on a young QB unless that young QB just isn't that good.
