Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I don't get the love for Fauci from many Americans. What has he ever said that was profound? His comments are generally very vanilla and not earth shattering. He also is all over the board. There still are many unanswered questions:

1) We're already social distancing, wearing masks etc but rates are spiking again. What more can we do?
2) If masks etc are so important, why does Sweden's graph look like that of western Europe?
3) Is this virus airborne or not? We were told initially that it was not, thus we were using disinfectants like crazy. If it's now been decided that it's airborne then why all the disinfectants?
4) If there is a case somewhere like at an office, school etc, why close it so the place can be disinfected? Wouldn't the virus die/weaken significantly if you just locked it up for the weekend?

Here we are in November and we still have these questions unanswered. These are things Fauci and his folks should be answering. A lot of money is at stake. Money that schools, restaurants, businesses etc might be needlessly spending

I think Fauci is very overrated

How to celebrate Thanksgiving during a pandemic

If you do decide to have a small gathering, you can lower your risk by having your event outdoors on small tables for each group sharing a household, with a minimum of 6 feet of separation between tables.

Ah yes, last week of November should be quite compatible for an outdoor Thanksgiving meal. Christmas should be even better.

After about 8 months in Knox County, 74% of deaths are 65 and older.

The 18 to 44 age group gets confirmed cases at double the rate of the next highest group at 456 per 10k. That age group has a CFR of 0.06%. Which means actual fatality rate is likely around 0.015% or much lower.

So my kid got sent home from school yesterday with Covid-like symptoms. We both went and got tested. Came back negative, but we both tested positive for the flu (they did both tests). I have no flu symptoms. My kid has a slight fever, chest congestion, and a wicked cough.

This makes me wonder how often I've had the flu and never known, yet spreaded it around. I literally feel nothing right now.

First off, glad you’re feeling well and hope your kid feels better. I’ve been looking at studies on asymptomatic spread of influenza and there are studies that show anywhere from 15-50% of infections are asymptomatic.

Interesting. Yeah when the nurse came back and said I was positive I was dumbfounded. I had no idea - I thought with Flu you just got sick.

not sure how true it is, but I have heard you are "sick" with the flu an average of a day before you show symptoms. viral load, and then bodily reaction. and same thing on the back end. i was always told to wait 24 hours after the fever broke, because you are still sick but now your body is in control and doesn't need to use higher temps to fight the virus anymore.

maybe one of our actual medical people can debunk my beliefs or add some jargon to make it sound legit.
