Stupidest Rule in Football

I’ve never liked “half the distance to the goal” penalty mark off. Why should you only get partial credit if you are close to the goal? If the mark off puts the ball into the end zone then put it on the one. Otherwise mark off the full amount. In general, I don’t like footballs concept of situational rules that change depending on where you are on the field or how much time is left on the clock.

Interception in the end zone stops a TD for the other team. Just knock it down if you don’t want to have to run it out. It’s a thinking man’s game.

If you knock it down instead of intercepting it the other team gets to keep the ball. That would be a stupid thought. I like that the players have to “think”, “do I want to run it out or take a knee”. Most seem to get lost in the moment, want the glory for themselves, run it out and get tackled. Giving their team the ball on the 5 instead of the 20.

I also like the touchback rule when you fumble out of the Endzone prior to scoring because it adds another dimension to the game. Gives the defense a reason to never stop trying. Teaches the kids that no matter how bad life gets you keep trying. It also teaches a ball carrier to hold onto the ball!

If you think it’s too lopsided of a rule, giving too much of an advantage to the defense, give the defense the ball at the point of the fumble.

Players must wear knee and thigh pads, and have knees covered, then completely ignore the rule

I hate how PI is called. Now a days teams just throw it up hoping for a penalty more often they they try to complete the pass. They need to allow more contact and only call egriouges penalties on the DB's or Recivers.

Call me old school, but it’s a lack of class when you celebrate and try to show up the opponent. Act like you been there before.
What drives me crazy are when players celebrate a good play while being down by 28 points. I love it when an opposing player points up to the scoreboard

The ball touched the ground but he had total control... uh hun
Fair catch inside the 25 and the ball is still placed at the 25...lol
One foot down, it's a catch,. Even though the other foot came down almost simultaneously out of bounds. Just use the NFL rule, both feet in.

So many rules
I don’t like the NFL rules. Sudden death OT was stupid. One foot down should be sufficient for a catch. Pass interference at spot of the ball is a harsh penalty

How does that rule not make any sense to you??? It's completely logical...

If you fumble at the 5 and it rolls out at the 1 you keep the ball on offense. If you fumble at the 5 and it rolls out just past the goal line, turnover, plus opponent gets 25 yards. How is that logical?

I kind of like the nuance. I've always felt if the line of scrimmage is within the range where 1 team can only be penalized half the distance to the goal, then the other team should only be able to be penalized twice the distance from the goal.

It's only 20 yards.

As for logic: the endzone is different from the rest of the field in literally every situation.

Two feet down would eliminate a lot of replay delays. Imo.
