Mike Leach Sucks and UT can easily lose to Arkansas

Two things have become more clear to me recently. First I'm glad we didn't hire Mike Leach. His "air raid" offense has scored a grand total of 16 points in the last 3 weeks. After what appeared to be an impressive first game against LSU (who obviously have enormously huge issues), Leach's team has fallen more flat that UT has which is impressively bad given Tennessee's last two weeks.

That brings me to my second observation. One of those teams that beat Leach was Arkansas. Arkansas with a first year head coach, playing in the SEC west, has scored at least 21 points in 4 of their 5 games this year. The lone blemish was against Georgia's defense. Since Tennessee doesn't have anything even close to Georgia's defense that means UT has to score points. Something they haven't managed to be able to do since JGs epic meltdown.

Arkansas is probably the second easiest game UT has left and on the road against a team that can score points I'm now inclined to think this is an "L" and UT ends up going 1-4 in the back half of the year.

ESPN is giving Arkansas the edge to win in this one and Vegas is only giving Tennessee -3 on the spread. This game is considered a toss-up. A DAMN TOSS-UP! It's very possible that Tennessee loses to lowly Arkansas with a first year head coach. A loss would also mean that Arkansas is having more success with a 1st year HC playing in the SEC west than Tennessee is having with a 3rd year HC playing in the east. That's crazy to think about.

Leech said something in the summer that pizzed off some recruits and caused some transfers. I don't recall it being that bad but some took it as a racist comment.
He s bad about that. He thinks he is more intelligent that everyone and puts his foot in his mouth quiet often.

im still picturing him on the wagon after the LSU win telling people to jump on the band wagon. How’s that working out now?

"Wrong team favored". Take the Piglets.

Arky should be favored, yet Vegas has us as a 3 pt Fave In Arkansas? And Ark is a median darling with Pattman having them hugely improved. Vegas is begging you to bet Arkansas, which in my 30+ yrs of betting doesn't usually work out for bettors taking that team. Betting most of the public takes Arkansas and the lines starts moving towards the Hogs. It doesn't work all the time, but it does 75%-80%..Taking the Vols SU and minus the pounts.

They’re 2-4

Could very easily be 4 and 2 and that is without a recruiting class and with a transfer qb. I would have much rather watched Miss vs. Tenn so far this season. They do seem to be improving and seem to have a plan. I think they had a very competitive game against Alabama and effectively beat Auburn. Their loses have all been pretty close.

Yep.....And they scored 48 on Bama with 620 yards of offense....and us?

And 35 on Florida and 612 yards. Don't know we could put up 600 yards on Fl with JG at QB in 2 games combined. If Lane can ever get a Defense at Ole Miss, he will do well there. Hiring DJ Durkin as his DC wasn't his best decision, but he will get it straight.

Franks and JG"s stats were almost identical before Saturday.
I

I can only go by what appears in front of my eyes - we will see what occurs on Saturday, but I think Franks is way more comfortable and the players around him are more comfortable than what is occuring on our front. I would rather have the number 9 qb in the league over the number 13 qb in the league. If you had one of the top 3 qbs in the league, you are suddenly competing with everyone - but we are unfortunately on the other end of the SEC qb talent pool.

Know how we use to talk about how Pruitt should kick the Butch players off the team since they were soft. Looks like that is happening in MS State
Weird how players have been that way with leach everywhere he has even even years after they were all his players

Two things...1st they are playing with "juice" under a Coach in year 1 (doesn't mean they will sustain that, and secondly...they have a QB (we don't). Remove Franks and plug in what they had before him and things are different.
Yeah, but the game is this coming Saturday.

Leach never wins in Year 1. Took him till Year 4 at Wash State. He's a coach that has to have "his players".

In any case, just wish we'd play Maurer or Bailey at QB. D.J. Uiagalelei looked very good at Clemson on Saturday and he's a true Freshman. If Maurer and / or Bailey aren't better than JG by the end of this season, we have a problem.
Hmm, I believe I hear bells ringing.

I thought he posted a totally unrelated pic of something resembling a noose and I thought it was only one player at the time who took offense and transferred but maybe I misremembered.

Leach has a “my way or the highway” approach. His success at his last 2 stops shows it works. His record at his last 2 stops also show his teams look bad until their 3rd or 4th year.

Leach's offense isn't even in place yet, so give it time. As far as UT vs Ark, who knows. Hope UT has it together, but won't be surprised if they don't.

It looks like UT just ran the gauntlet of the best 3 defenses in the SEC. we’ve had two weeks to get things realigned so I’m going into this with an open mind. One positive is that Arkansas won’t sneak up on us, they know they’ll be in a dog fight
Unless there is a change at QB... I believe UT will finish 3-7 or 4-6. Arkansas is a toss up and SHOULD BE one we drop into the win column.

If UT makes a change at QB... it may be no better. Unfortunately Pruitt vested himself in JG before he even hired Chaney. They've poured so much into JG that anyone else will essentially get on the job training.

What will be DECIDEDLY better if someone else starts is UT's preparation for the future. JG's issues now are frustrating but maybe even a greater frustration with Pruitt's insane persistence in starting him is that he offers nothing at all for the future of the program. Even if he returned next year... he's at or near his ceiling. It is almost certain he'll do nothing better than repeat of the same things we've seen for 3+ years.

This proves that there is a HC that underachieves more than than country boy?

IIRC Ark recruiting has been in the 40's the last few years..I'd say this staff is getting the most out of them....Ark fans have said their defense is night and day better than the past 2 seasons.

Chad Morris’ first class was 49th (that was the first year of the early signing period with limited time for him to recruit) but his second class wasn’t bad at 23rd and then Pittman’s first class was 30th. I think in total team talent we’re around 25-27.
