hoopgurlz has the Gamecocks on the 2022 short list with the following:
#1 Lauren Betts 6' 7"
#7 Maya Nnaji 6'4"
#8 Talaysia 6' ( local probable )
#13 Ashlyn Watkins 6'4" ( local probable )
For 2023
#2 Del Rosario 6'5"
#3 Fulwiley ( local probable )
#4 Arnold
And to think the Gamecocks are currently preseason #1 with the weakest team they'll have during the next three years and with the #1 recruiting class for 2021 waiting in the wings. That's of course disregarding transfers coming or going.

Prayers for DiDi and Moon
I have expressed that point of view. But in most posts I pointed out 2 exceptions to the rule Kara Lawson because of name recognition (and also the Duke cache) and Banghart because of the abundance of praise she got for her work at Princeton. But if you come from a mid-major more than half way through a recruiting cycle when 80% of the seniors are locked up, when 90% of the juniors have already cut their interest list to 5-10 teams and your peer coaches have been on the sophomores and freshman for 2 to 3 years, it is readily apparent that it is going to take some time to recruit in the top 10 players. This is readily evidenced by what KJH has been able to do at UT. Using Hoopgurlz as a quick representation. KJH's top recruit for 2020 is #57 KJH's top recruit in 2021 is #43 KJH's top recruit in 2022 is #33 (and with probably better to come.) The pattern has played out of steadily improving recruiting as KJH gets on an even footing with her peer coaches. I have said all along KJH was a great pick. You needed a quality coach who could also connect back to Pat. Kara also would have been a great pick. Your AD had to make a safer pick by choosing the one with head coaching experience. Selecting Kara would have brought a roar of approval from the semi-faithful. But if she were to flame out as the coach the LV legacy would be history. Instead I see a path forward. Even if KJH is not the one to bring regular final fours and national championships, she will have rescued Pat's legacy and restored LV's to a place of relevance. My feelings only.Nah, some on the board tell us you canโt recruit well for several years after you show you can coach up lesser talent. So, to expect good talent without even a full recruiting cycle isnโt possible I guess![]()
Obviously you don't understand the leverage Kara starts with by having hundreds of hours of TV time where she sits as an expert in the game. I expect her to do well. But the jury is still out because it is far different to give expert opinion in the calm of the commentators chair than to make game changing decisions in the heat of battle. The commentator doesn't deal with egos and expectations in the locker room, etc. etc.So it took Lawson, with no head coaching experience, all of five minutes to land a higher rated recruit than anyone Kellie has ever successfully recruited?
Not a good look...
Itโs a highlight film so of course she looks great but I think we all forget how talented she is.I don't see Westbrook starting in the last half of the conference schedule. Aaliyah Edwards will start from almost the beginning of the year and is more important than Paige to the overall structure. Only experience gives Evina an edge on Bueckers or Muhl. I think that once off the point Evina won't be able to move Williams or Makurat off the wings but will garner 20 minutes or so in a 2/3 rotation. Griffin's minutes will come as a super sub/ disrupter. Geno has stated that Mir is probably the best athlete to play at UConn and that's hard for me to swallow after watching Gabby Williams. Mir's minutes will depend on if she can play defense. Expect 9 players to play double digit minutes, specially against the weaker teams on the schedule.
