Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

Bet you figured out at a young age that there are better ways than holding a sparkplug wire to see if it's "getting fire" - and maybe you weren't even the one on the receiving end of that little experiment.
Learned that lesson. Still only way to test a battery though...sick your tongue to the terminals. Hate testing car batteries though.

But I still can't get Hog to answer my question as to the prevalence of Peyronie's in the 6 years he spent ogling at service members' members.
Well, as best as I can figure, he wasn't doing it for scientific reasons as much as he was just enjoying a hobby. Probably not equipped to answer your question.

Heck yeah. I will meet anyone, anytime at WH. K-town included.

Amen! Every engineer should have to actually do maintenance/repair work on what they are designing.
It's going to be a bigger problem because I don't see kids (either sex now) working on stuff as they grow up. Without it, there's just no innate feel for how things work, how you get to something for test or repair, or what's actually solid and stable. I had a lot of respect for farm kids entering engineering - I'd take a TN Tech engineering grad over a Vandy grad any day.
Primary reason I became an engineer was because my dad got me to tinkering with things when I was young. My go cart, mini bike, lawn mower, home electrical, auto maintenance etc...

First I decided I wanted to be a machinist like my brother when I was in middle school.

Then after a few more years of working on cars and feeling “what dumbass thought this was a good idea” I figured I’d cut out the middle man.

To this day at work when a fellow engineer comes back with “oh I don’t change my own car oil” or “oh I just called an electrician/plumber” I’ll smile and say out loud Bless your heart. FFS why did you get into engineering then you lazy bastard?! 🤷‍♂️

I was told if you have a 220v outlet, and it is convenient (like in a garage or something) you can simply plug the generator into the outlet, make sure you turn off the main electric supply at the panel (critical step), power up the generator and you're good to go. Won't run the whole house but will power the main stuff like freezers, tvs and such. No need to go through a costly install process.
Get a generator to run the generator. Cmon man.

Just so you know, I made enough money being an engineer that I just pay someone to change my oil and wash my vehicles. Now back in the olden days I changed my own oil, washed my own vehicles and changed my own brakes. Screw the olden days.

Lol I make enough to pay somebody to do it too. But instead I do it myself and spend that money on my bass boat and other toys instead 😎 priorities.

I don’t wash my own truck though. Everybody has their limits.
