Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I disagree. Big time. We're just getting into the cold and flu season... I think we'll have 100K+ infections per day shortly. The average rate of 800 to 1000 deaths per day will go up significantly IMO. In 90 days time, that's 100K+ additional deaths by the end of January alone.

You and your logic and mathematics. You gotta listen to your gut.

Funny how long this anti-intellectualism has plagued the GOP. Case in point from the Bush years:

This anti-intellectualism has been percolating for sometime.

IMO the spread of the virus here in the US has been exacerbated by a number of factors including:

(1) We are a free society. No Chinese here to clamp us down completely.
(2) We travel freely about... alot.
(3) We have a large segment of our population that *cough* doesn't believe CV19 is a significant threat and, therefore, takes actions that further spread of the virus
(4) We have a President who has failed to create a National Plan to deal with CV19.
(5) We have lots of unfit, fat ass citizens who are unhealthy and vulnerable.

Ultimately, we could significant reduce the spread of the virus by doing simple, simple stuff: Wash hands, social distance and wear a mask. But, no. Folks like you find this an intrusive, overbearing infringement of your "rights".

So, yeah, guys like you are largely to blame. The irony is thick.
The President ? These blue state clown governors did what they wanted to do no matter what, now they are crying because the feds wont bail their inept states out after all the damage they caused to the economy

Mortality rate has nothing to do with herd immunity.
Sure it does. If everyone dies, no one will build an immunity. If lots of people get it and survive, there'll be lots of immune people.

Now... Go back and tell us the mortality rate for Sweden. Remember? We were merely accepting austerity for a very short time to save outselves from overwhelming critical care capabilities?

I'm encouraged as heck that cases are increasing as mortality rates plunge. You should be too.

You do realize that Monty’s logic and math in his post consisted of words like “I think” and “IMO?”

"Inept clown" states like Massachusetts and California, huh? Heh. Without these two states, no Moderna (you know, the company Trump's touting for its CV19 vaccine), and none of the technology that probably exists to build and support this very website. Of note, California's economy alone would make it the 5th largest in the world... bigger than Germany, India, etc. No Harvard, MIT, Stanford, etc., etc., etc. Pretty much the two states of our nation with the greatest educational systems on the planet.

Without these two states, the rest of our Union would, in reality, be quite inept.

19 red state Governors issued stay-at-home orders as well.

What terrible logic. Those schools don’t exist because of the state they are in and that tech doesn’t exist because they base themselves in Cali.

Oh my... this should be good...

Then, do tell us, why are those schools (Harvard, MIT, Stanford, etc.) and businesses (Google, Apple, Cisco, Intuit, Oracle, etc.) located in the states they are?

Of note, EVERY top-10 university is located in a BLUE state. HMMMMMmmmmmm.....

If CA was an independent country it's economy would resemble Mexicos or maybe Canada's.

The vast majority of those universities were founded prior to 1800. So you can punt on the red state blue state thing. Harvard was founded prior to us being a country. The business are there bc that’s where they chose to incorporate them. Your argument is absurd. Do you believe we would have no space program without Florida and Texas. No Coke without Georgia? People created these companies and universities. Not the states. The tech Apple has would still exist without California. Moderna would still exist without California.

You do realize how long Stanford and Harvard have been in their respective states and how neither state was nearly as left leaning then, correct?

You also realize the tech companies are bailing out of Cali and moving to Nashville at the speed of light?

19 red state Governors issued stay-at-home orders as well.

The point is the same: Governors shut down their own economies; wondered why their coffers were gettin' kinda bare; goes to the Fed gov't to bail them out.

No, it doesn't work that way. You purposely close down your own economy, realize there is a price to be paid for that. It's not as easy as receiving a check from DC. Think about that next time you decide to take such an extreme position

The party of science was just cherry picking stats and ignoring the other two columns to push a fear agenda , so who is the anti- intellectual when you do that ? You two should team up and go on the road doing a comedy tour .
