So this quote kinda goes back to something I've been thinking. I see Pruitt as a guy who is big on seniority. I honestly feel like Pruitt would rather take his lumps with the upper classman in game and build depth that way then put in his freshman to get game experience. I don't know which is right or wrong but ive had that thought a few different times about him.

But playing a 5th-year senior that has no touch on his passes, can’t read defenses, does not feel pressure, and continually misses open targets, sends what message?

Beldar Gump is giving coach speak, and he is missing the target worse than his QB misses receivers. You put the best player at each position on the field, regardless of seniority or any other metric. If my offensive philosophy is pro-style, I’m not opting for Charlie Frazier over Peyton Manning. He’s gone from a diet rich in cornbread to one consisting of only bath salts.

This season is not an anomaly. Pruitt unequivocally showed his salt in the ‘18 UGA game. When he cut the game to 24-6, he immediately went for 2. You never, ever, ever go for 2 until it is necessary, something middle school coaches understand and they don’t even kick PATs.

That was a pretty good offensive performance.

S.T.F.U.

There is literally no positives the last two weeks. None. Zero. Ziltch. It isn’t even arguable.

We aren’t close and it is pathetic. AD. Coaching. Talent. Everything.

Call it what it is. Sunshine pumping is stupid, and quite frankly, retarded at this point.

So let’s see here..

If Tennessee fires Pruitt here’s what’ll happen:

Almost immediately (like that week) we see decommitments from everyone in our recruiting class that’s worth a damn with somewhere else to go. Dylan Brooks ends up at Auburn or Alabama, Terrence Lewis stays in Miami, Aaron Willis and Katron Evans MIGHT stick around, Kaidon Salter stays in state because he won’t be able to get to know the new OC. Cody Brown goes to Auburn, Kaemen Marley goes to UNC.. you get the point.

Jeremy Pruitt is almost IMMEDIATELY hired by Alabama as the DC.

False Grumors fire up again, half the fan base says anyone less than Urban Meyer is unacceptable. We don’t have the money to offer him. Fan base goes into a frenzy.

PJ Fleck opts to stay in Minnesota for less money, Matt Campbell does the same at Iowa State, and Bronco Mendenhall at UVA

False report that Scott Satterfield from Louisville is hired picks up steam but is proven false

Hugh Freeze chooses to take the Auburn job over here after Gus Mahlzan is fired

Billy Napier is hired as the new head coach but only on the condition that he takes his entire UL-Lafayette staff with him.. and it falls through.

After all that, Tennessee finally hires Texas A&M defensive coordinator Mike Elko as the new HC.

A slew of transfers happen after Derrick Ansley and Brian Neidermeyer are not retained. Including Henry To’oto’o, Quavaris Crouch, Darnell Wright, Brian Maurer, Dominic Bailey, Doneiko Slaughter, and about 5 or 6 other Pruitt guys that are ONLY here because of that coaching staff. This would likely include Harrison Bailey. Jarrett Guarantano opts to stay for year 6 after the depth chart thins.

Tennessee finishes at 22 in the nation for recruiting after having to replace all of their big departures with low 3 stars that weren’t being recruited by other SEC schools

Cade Mays and Bryce Thompson declare for the NFL draft

Tennessee finishes 4-8 in 2021, and finishes barely top 15 in recruiting with Ty Simpson at Clemson and Walter Nolen at LSU.

Or, this season we finish 5-5 or 6-4. Salvage the class, sign 2 more guys we need and get ready for 2021 with Harrison Bailey as the guy and a potential 9-10 win season on the horizon, and a shot at a top 5 class in 2022.

Think about this before you just want to fire the HC.
You going to keep your 2022 national champions signature?

I see everyone is in overreaction mode tonight. Pruitt may very well not be the answer, but losing to arguably the best team in the nation isn't the end of the world. 100% agree that it's time to move on from JG, but doubtful it happens. We're not going to fire Pruitt, and even if we did, we wouldn't hire any of the names people are screaming for. People need to stop being idiots. Screaming for his head isn't going to accomplish ****. You're not going to get your way. Right now, I'm just hoping Pruitt figures out how to attack the rest of the season.
Be careful what you wish for. This administration is not going to hire anyone that you've heard of. It would be another Coach McGoogle.

It's really a broken record.

Fire the coach.
Hire a new up-and-coming coach.
Fans get excited, spend money
Coach last 4,5 years and fails
Fans lose interests quit spending money
Becomes less expensive to fire him than keep him
UT fires coach
UT hires new up-and-coming coach

Wash, rinse, repeat

This. ALL OF THIS. You are exactly right.

That's my point. It's laughable that people think we would go out and get an Urban Meyer, or even a Hugh Freeze. That's not how UT does things. We've witnessed enough coaching searches to know that.

Where the pumpers at?
No time to pump, but thought our OL regained some of its balls today vs a big time opponent. Started real poorly, but run blocking found a groove for some time and pass pro was improved. Chaney realized PA deep passes are obviously our money play. Hyatt proved himself.

Defense has seen the best offense there is. They have nowhere to go but up.

You have to have good timing. This would be a rare time you can get a really good coach like Freeze. Otherwise its just luck if these coordinators are going to work out as HC.

The only way to break that cycle is to quit paying for chicken salad when they're serving chicken ****. When people wise up and quit falling for the con then and only then will things change.

Very very good post BUT this program
Won’t survive with a bamer running it like he is right now. The $ will
Stop cold turkey with bama Jeremy at the reigns. There just isnt going to be patience for his redneck bama ass

We're not going to hire Hugh Freeze. You're kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

I'm not a nega or a pumper, I'm a realist. More people need to live in reality. Pruitt isn't getting fired this season. The soonest he possibly gets fired is after next season. If it happens, we'll just hire another roll of the dice coach.
Like most programs. Always wondered why Ohio State waited until after Meyer left Florida to make that move. Why didn’t they just throw money at him? 🤔
