The whole notion of "the" false prophet is nothing more than a misapplication of a book, Revelation, and the often held belief that their will be some apocalyptic battle between the forces of good and evil in the end times. The better question is why do some fixate on this belief? If you subscribe to the idea that Revelation is to be taken literally then it contradicts many of Jesus' teachings and the teachings of the Gospels. So, no the Pope isn't the anti-Christ or "the" false prophet neither is any other person who has been labeled such during the last several centuries. Anyone who teaches a doctrine outside of what the Bible teaches is a "false prophet", there have been many and there will continue to be many. The Bible is very clear on its stance on homosexuality but that doesn't mean you can't or won't be forgiven. I don't know why so many Christians fixate on that sin when there are plenty of other ones destroying society like drug addiction, pornography, abandoning children, greed, etc.
