$147,000,000 = THE COST OF PANDEMIC FOR UTK

Yes the extension was quite questionable. I mean who's going anywhere during this pandemic. Imo I believe schools are going to be less likely to make a change.

Agree to a point but that was done for recruiting. PF knows players families are looking for continuity.

Not to mention we (the tax payers of Tennessee) are still paying Butch millions per year. Fulmer (bless his heart) extended Pruitt's contract a few months ago. Fulmer has never been accused of being real smart with money. If I remember correctly, Fulmer extended Pruitt's contract during the lockdown. Please correct me if I am wrong. Who does that? So, with the $147,000,000 loss, and the extended contract, how far down the tubes will the university have to allow Pruitt to take it before showing him the door is even financially feasible?
Pruitt May very well become the first, true VFL.
GBO!!

Another thing to mention is these numbers might be a bit inflated and could include all types of costs that may/may not be COVID related since there will likely be another stimulus package with money going to states and universities. This is likely a ploy to increase the amount received if/when there is another stimulus....
Yeah, Alabama “lost” 3 trillion, on the football program alone.
GBO!!

Damn the media has cost many alot of $$$
how in the world is the media at fault? its a novel virus man. we lived in blissful ignorance...the over seer had sent us a few shots over the bow, collectively. but humanity wasnt prepared. we all failed each other.

ill grant you the round the clock news coverage hasnt helped. but we have to step back. if there is blame to go around, subsequently, it would go to politicians who've made this about them.

and there is plenty of blame allllll the way around there, up, down, left, right.

Hence why a system dependent on government handouts, like what Biden is trying to create, is a bad idea. But I’ll leave that debate on the political forum

Football team is still collecting TV revenue. I don’t think Pruitt’s extension has any bearing on this years finances. I also am not one to burn the mattresses because of the losses this year....yet...

Recruits don't want to come to a school when the coach only has a year or two left on their contract.

Yep... extensions serve multiple purposes. One of which is a show of faith in the staff for recruits to see.

I doubt there is a head coach out there who has ever gotten to the end of a contract. Not one at a high profile school anyway.

Someone hit this dude with some stats on how our defense and run game have improved. I’m driving

Stats are for Statisticians. A Head Coach is supposed to improve his team Greatly in year 3. Getting pummeled by KENTUCKY at HOME is not improving, but rather; Regressing. The Truth hurts, but it's still the truth. And the recent staff shakeup reeks of poor hiring decisions. THAT is the really glaring issue.

It’s obligatory but should be common knowledge and unnecessary, but here we are...
May not fund directly, but it’s the height ridiculous to assert or even suggest that tax dollars and their allocation is not directly linked to AD revenue. Also, google highest paid public employees in Tennessee. There is at the very least “linkage”. We’re VN, but let’s not be completely and willfully ignorant.

"Fulmer has never been accused of being real smart with money." By whom? That's your opinion and you act like it's fact. So stupid.

I believe, it was Pat Forde that AP called out for sensationalism during the Pandemic.

That extension was widely reported so choose whichever reporter you want.

Here is another who may be more altruistic in their motives

Jeremy Pruitt receives extension

The statement was :

they were going to give Pruitt an extension before the Pandemic, I believe. And, he wanted to wait, coulda been during. Pruitt chose to wait.

Key word being extension. He didn't wait on the extension. He also turned down the 400,000 for this year only, not over the life of the contract.

All things being said and done, it's not bad work to be a .500 coach with mind numbing losses on your record and costing your program an 800k buyout 4 games into a season if you can find it.

Good for Pruitt. Pans of cornbread all around.

Care to expand on how tax dollars allocation is linked to AD revenue? Educate the ignorant?

Pruitt WILL get it done. It’s just going to take longer than it needed to because he’s so stubborn

There are no guarantees about that. And, in fact, I would interpret the results as suggesting otherwise.
