Does anyone really think coaching search #5 would end any better?

Based on the Admin's history of hiring FB coaches since Fulmer, I don't really have any confidence a new coach search would do anything but sink the program further into the abys. Understand all the Pruitt hate and some of it is deserved but like it or not, IMO sticking with Pruitt is still the best course for now.

We'll find out in 2023.

UT is in a position where they are just going to have to ride a coach out longer than anyone wants to wait. Unless the guy just flat out quits and lays down that may be 6 or more years.

Cover you ears and hope.

Couple of things in my view:
1) After the debacle that was happening during the last search, Fulmer pretty much had to hire who he had to hire to get things moving. Couldn't keep taking the public abuse the University was taking by not hiring someone and offered an up and coming coordinator willing to take the job. There wasn't an 'established' coach out there that was going to take it...I know some of you cry Leach, but that was only an interview with no confirmed report or evidence that he was going to take the job.
2) Fulmer did the extension with no raise this year to mitigate some of the impact of Covid on the AD finances. Smart move if you ask me from a financial and protect what you have stand point.

So where's this leave us?
Unfortunately, good, bad, or indifferent, we have Pruitt at the helm for at least 2021 and likely 2022.
For those that are the optimist we hope that Pruitt is the guy and rights the ship to making us a perennial 10 win program.
For those of us that are more pessimistic in our views we feel Pruitt is in over his head and needs cut loose now no matter the cost.
Then there's that middle ground that believes in giving him another year or so and hope the recruiting stays at the same level it has been under Pruitt and he leaves the program in better shape than he found it for the next guy.

They aren't firing Pruitt unless their is cause. They can't.....cash strapped because of Covid and just extended him a few months ago.

Best we can hope for is that he gets lucky and we somehow don't embarrass ourselves worse than what we did on Saturday.
Is even really embarrassing at this point?

Can't just give up. Gotta hire someone who is proven in the SEC. That is Hugh Freeze. Gotta quit hiring guys that have never been there and done that.

Best post since Saturday’s final score.

That would be up to the administration and boosters.

It probably wouldn’t be......but it certainly “could” be $$.

There was a lot wrong with Butch......but it seemed like “development” and “stubbornness” to change was a huge part of the problem.

Right now......with Pruitt......”development” and “stubbornness” to change seems like a huge problem.

Then you add in:
Lack of discipline
Lack of motivation
Lack of leadership
“Same” Mental mistakes....over and over

To me it doesn’t look good.

You nailed it. Money talks and BS walks...away with huge buyout money.

I honestly don't think OP understands Volnation, there are several of us that have been debating on, not if, but, when to start up the Gruden threads.

Grud night.

Nope because the harsh reality that the majority of fans haven’t figured out is nobody they want living or dead wants to come to Knoxville for any price.

For all the ones clamoring to fire Pruitt, who exactly do you think will come here to coach if we fire a coach during the Covid Season in year three because he lost to Kentucky? He!!, Majors lost to Kentucky and he is a revered Coach in our history. (I'm not saying Pruitt is the second coming of Majors).

Getting beat like we did at home to KY sucks.
Having a coach be stubborn with arguably the worst QB in the past 50 years is irritating.

But dang guys...shut the panic button off. He inherited a dumpster fire of a team. He's just getting his second full class up to speed. It's a weird season. KYs team is not the KY of old. Yes, TN should have beat them, but they didn't. Time to move on.

Even Dabo took a few years to get Clemson where they are now. Saban lost to Louisiana Monroe at home. Fulmer lost to Memphis. Majors lost several embarrassing games and it took a while to get TN to dominance again.

Let's get some stability. Finish some buyouts. Give him a chance to rid the roster of Butch Stank and then see where we are at
