Its a difference between an offer and actually going after a kidlook at the offer list Harrison Bailey, 2020 Pro-style quarterback - Rivals.com
Maurer's first start was UGA which had a better D than this year's Bama D. Two weeks later coming off a head injury... he started vs a Bama D that was also better than this Bama D.
Someone else needs to start... this week.
Yes. I think if they're given control of who is prepared and plays this week... the starter will not be JG... and he may not be the back up.
I could be wrong... but I don't think I am. And the way this has played out makes me even more confident.
Pruitt just fired a guy after 4 games. He's obviously not afraid to hold people accountable when he sees it. So if he were neutral on the QB situation and Chaney/Weinke were running JG out there while playing like he's played... Pruitt would have come off the top rope. Instead, he defended JG and criticized the play call rather than JG's decision.
I believe that Pruitt has dictated that JG start. I think he made that decision in January '19 and is still clinging to the idea that he was right the whole time... at least until the last game. I think Chaney wanted more of a real competition last year. I think Chaney possibly with some help from Fulmer got the change made last year for the UGA game. I believe that Chaney knows JG's limitations and very likely wants to move on.
Yes. I think if Chaney is allowed to choose any of the other three but particularly Maurer or HB that he and Weinke will have them prepared to play.
He was a "bad QB" before last season.Already 4 games into the season and JG didn’t just become a bad QB.
Sorry but I don't think so. Pruitt has made it clear that JG was "his guy". He spent the entire '19 off season trying to build JG's confidence and didn't allow a real QB competition... then could not avoid the obvious by the UGA game. It was more than a rumor that he was pressured to make the change even then.If anyone else was ready, JG would have been benched, particularly on Saturday against KY. Pruitt would have benched him had he someone to put in there. He didn’t. Face it, Chaney/Wienke aren’t getting it done. Pruitt isn’t going to fire his OC. Sends a much more damaging message than firing a DL coach.
What happened to the cult? Did k-town and Pulaski already change their screen names?

Chaney has gotten it done with QB's. Weinke knows QB's. This is Pruitt's prerogative and he's used it.
Not sure where your hate for Chaney comes from. The guy can coach offense. He needs to be unshackled.
It is a problem that aggressive passers often have. It is something that has to be coached up. But it isn't exactly legitimate to throw an unqualified stat out like that. Versus UF in "junk time" after the game was out of reach. He threw a pick in that game. He made an incorrect read vs UGA and threw too deep for a pick. He made two bad reads vs MSU... again, aggressive plays that you have to coach up. Then he had the Jennings handoff in the Bama game. The circumstances around picks are important. Why they happened.BM throws an interception every 15 attempts
I would like to hear the thoughts from @PulaskiVolFan and @k-town_king on what they think the issues are with the offense. Obviously #2 deserves a lot of blame but let's face it, Weinke still being on staff borders on neglience, the OL is poorly coached and has regressed across the board, Chaney's play-calling has left a lot to be desired and there's no high-end difference makers (yet) at the skill positions. The past 6 quarters is not all on #2.
With that being said, there needs to be a QB change in the next 2 weeks. This team has appeared to quit on the coaching staff and I suspect a lot of that has to do with the QB issues.
His "boss" threw him under the bus to deflect blame from JG's AWFUL read and throw.
You can deny it from now on... but Pruitt is behind JG being the starter. Not Chaney.
You mean he tried to build the confidence of the guy his "boss" told him to invest time in and start? After Chaney heaped praise on JG during preseason, ya really believe Chaney isn’t behind him remaining the starter?? Puhleeeese.....
