Programs like UNC can get CMB and get national attention, yet we seem to end up being the butt of jokes! What gives? CMB was headed into retirement I thought, but comes back to help an ACC team get exposure -- a basketball school no less.

With our pedigree, we should be getting the good coaches lining up at the door. Is there something about Tennessee that puts people off?

Well, CMB in year 1 had them competing with everyone. Almost beat Clemson. Recruiting is way up, and until FSU had all kinds of momentum. Now we get to see how he has them bounce back.
One other thing....he has a very solid QB.

The BoT is a mess, the AD has seemed intent on shelling out 8 figure contracts to morons who need on the job training instead of proven commodities, recruiting is always an uphill battle for lack of in state talent, expectations are sky high for a tradition rich program, and there is now the looming spector of Fulmer polishing his championship ring and thinking he deserves another shot on the sidelines.

Other than that, I can see proven coaches lining up to coach here now.

Rebuilding a program in the SEC is WAAAAY harder than rebuilding one in any other conference for starters! Things are not stacked in our favor for sure!

I doubt Fulmer is doing that.

You're right about the recruiting and lack of solid hires.

I doubt Tennessee ever returns to relevance unless they hire an elite coach that can sjyro jet recruiting for a few years.

If Butch was a decent coach, he might have had a chance to turn us around after those two recruiting classes.

Doesn't matter. We are stuck with what appears to be another buyout coach.

Hope I'm wrong.

The SEC is tough on Tennessee football, a huge challenge for the Vols to get a proven HC

Usually, if you’re having trouble identifying a major problem, it might be a problem with the person attempting the identification.

Are there any other SEC schools firing position coaches this early in the season? I'm thinking not.

Not willing to pay top $$$

When you are shopping in the beef jerky aisle at the Dollar General, you can't expect to find Filet Mignon

1. Coaches aren't excited about a schedule that includes Alabama, Florida, and Georgia every year

2. Tennessee is a train wreck. The Greg Schiano debacle doesn't help

3. UT has a very poor administration and dumbass but reach donors like the Haslem

You can actually enroll in basket weaving at UNC, not go to class and receive an A. Oh yeah nobody gets in trouble. At UT the hammer would fall!!!

Why does the money always come up when talking about hiring coaches. Name one proven coach, that has proven he can win Bigly in the SEC, that could be hired. If they are winning in a Power 2 or 3 conference (PAC 10 doesn’t count) their current school will match any amount Tenn offers. It would take a top 5 coach and none can be bought
I know this is about football, but Tenn pays Barnes in top 5, Lady Vol basketball coach was over paid for her lack of big time experienc, baseball coach is very well paid, softball coaches near the top.

Tennessee gets plenty of attention......even when they don’t deserve it.

Heck Tennessee was ranked what.....12th...in the country?

And got slapped in the mouth at home to the tune of a 27 point loss.

Tennessee is their own worst enemy.
