Over the middle is way to open on defense, but defense is not the main problem. Learning what to do in the classroom aint the same as learning on the field. Live reps matter. A Dr spends 15yrs in school but they dnt go just do brain surgery without interning 1st.

It won't be as much of a concern going forward. COVID screwed Bailey over big time with not getting spring practice in and the Stupid contact tracing stuff this summer and fall. Why college football players need tested for COVID I'll never know. Dumbest thing ever, just like the lock downs.

Bigger issue to me I suppose with the “JG clearly gives us best chance to win” line is that last year Maurer was deemed ready enough to start multiple games. I get that he is supposedly in the dog house, injury prone, not trustworthy, etc but pretending him or JT just aren’t ready this year after starting games last year frustrates me. Who said he was UT's "top QB"? That's something you earn... not something recruiting websites endow you with.

He apparently got very little practice due to Covid and then they had to get the guys who had taken more snaps ready to play within the time limitations for practice.

I'm ready to see him and Maurer get their chance to battle it out to see who is "the guy" going forward. You have a much better chance of keeping Salter on board if a guy like Maurer has success than if a pure pro style guy like HB becomes a 4 year starter.

There is a LOT more to worry about right now than the next "top QB' recruit.... starting with the decision to stick with JG in spite of 3 years of proof that he isn't "the guy". That's more of a reason for QB's to question a UT offer than Bailey not being thrown on the field with no practice.

Morris and Wright were in quarantine multiple times. The contact tracing was unnecessary and dumb. And we are seeing the fruits of it now.

Well, I did type “If” Pruitt said that. Regardless, it’s not debatable that JG is not a very good QB, makes freshmen and sophomore mistakes as a 5th year senior (nearly 4 year starter). And it’s not debatable that if the redshirt Sophomore or JR aren’t ready that it fall on Pruitt and his QB coach. Putting all your eggs into one basket is not very smart.

HB has had 15 full practices at UT.
