For sure. His implosion this week showed it. I can’t believe how mentally fragile the guy is. But once he starts to make mistakes, they seem to compound. It’s just time to move on. Our defense can keep us in any game with an offense that won’t go three and out all the time and doesn’t give up pick sixes.

Totally agree about JG’s errors compounding. I feel bad for the guy but the one thing you cannot allow to happen in high-level athletics is for one error to lead to another. The margins are too small

I didn't like Chaney the first time he was here. Sure we put up a lot of points, but he never did anything to help out our defense. He gets throw happy and abandons the run. Too many 3&outs and wears out our defense.

As bad as we are on offense, he needs to eat up some clock so the defense can rest, but instead he will go tempo and pass, pass, pass and then we are forced to punt

The difference is that we had a gunslinger, and we couldn’t run back then (after Kiffin). That was the worst defense in program history. If we were just below average, we win a few more games. He made money for Mychal Rivera because he could scheme open a TE. Pretty sure he did that some at UGA with Nauta. But we don’t have one right now.

I have been critical of Chaney, but it’s a bit different now. They need to simplify it by using roll outs, sprints, misdirection, and play action. Run, run, run and be creative. Then call passes when required.

I just don't think we can make a change at OC with what we are paying Chaney. With the covid losses this year I don't see any changes happening unless someone chooses to leave on their own. So i think we would be stuck with Wienke as well. I think demoting Chaney would be a bad look for recruits as well.
I agree. I'm not sure what wholesale changes you can or should make.

I just know where we are isn't where we want to be offensively.

Either simplify what we're doing for jg or put the next guy in. Either way.

The Red Sox organization was idiotic for trading Mookie Betts and not paying him. That 2018 Red Sox team with Mookie was the most loaded team in baseball for the last few decades.
They just couldn't afford to keep him, he would have walked after this year. He wouldn't have made much of a difference on their tem this year. I am just not sure they got good enough back on that trade though.

I have to disagree with ya here. Hard to judge Chaney when you got a pathetic QB that limits you on what you can call. A bad QB sure can make an OC look real bad.
When Butch didn’t retain him and all of the pining ratcheted up whenever we had a 3 and out, I’d mention that he was very good but would don passing game blinders whenever it was nut cutting time. I still think that’s his tendency and when you TAKE THAT AWAY FROM him during a game? You hamstring him. I like that he resources his old OL coach roots and melds his attack to the big uglies, but there’s no diversity in his gameplanning. Was excited when we hired him...but look at the candidates we were down to. I say Chip Long sooner rather than later.

Is it me or do the Braves pitchers love pitching behind the count? Its driving me nuts along with some of the dumbest base running I have ever seen since my Dixie Youth days. LOL
They have been doing it all year, I honestly have no idea how we have gotten this far in the playoffs. The base path blunders have been going on all year as well. 2nd and third with no out or bases loaded no out has been our kryptonite all year.

I don’t think they did. And Boston has plenty of money. They just chose not to pay him. Their choice but I didn’t agree with it.

Some thoughts on Chip Long from a Notre Dame 24/7 article:

"Yeah, I feel that the loss of Chip Long is definitely one that they're feeling. No question about it. I mean, this guy, he was passionate about recruiting. Notre Dame fans notoriously are always talking about how they, like you mentioned, want a dog on the trail. They want somebody who's going to go toe-to-toe fearless with Georgia and Alabama and the likes of the heavy-hitters like Clemson and Ohio State. Chip Long was that guy."
I’m in that igloo. Hate it for Chaney but in the year we honor him, it’s Majors 1988 scorched Earth time.

Can't really disagree. Was glad when we hired him. Had some reservations about it tho. Didn't verbalize them here, no point given the cous it was to get him from UGA.

But he's not ever been known as a game planner. Play caller.. Yes. Game planner... Not the same thing.

I do see your point but having JG back there has got to handicap him some. Would like to see what he would do with HB.

As an outsider I agree, I just know they were super focused on getting under the luxury tax all off season, so I dont know why.

Why? He doesn’t really do that...and Chip Long does...WELL! Switch them out and bump Long’s pay in the short term and allow Chaney to be a $1.5 million dollar analyst...then work it out in the offseason.
