I disagree, getting obliterated by Bama is not a good way to start a freshman QB. After Bama, absolutely, HB and no one else. If he sucks, get him the reps for next year.

why not? He will have to play Bama at sometime. He is a big boy. They will simplify the playbook. He will be fine. He came here for these games.

Yup. There is a risk with getting HB destroyed and shaking his confidence but JG is so bad he needs to go. Now. He is the biggest risk.

You take the lumps
HB is a freshman, yes he’s gonna mess up
He’s also a 5 star and should have a chance to help his team too
Or BM, he flashed last year and created plays for us while providing some juice for his team
Either one is fine, but JG is what he is, and Shrout is well known for completing balls to other teams.

Who are the leaders on this team? I know Trey and Henry's names usually are the first out of people's mouths, but if they are real leaders, they've got to expect more of themselves, more from their teammates, and more from their coaches.

Harrison Bailey hasn't had much practice due to the covid hell, the other guys seemed pretty average and JG has the most experience. I can see why VOLS went with him, but they need to be done with him after Bama. Next year we definitely need to be much improved.

UGA went with Stetson Bennett.....sometimes you go with what you have a simplify the playbook....

Crompton speaking the truth on AZ. He said you do not lose to Kentucky. You especially do not get blown out by Kentucky. He said we need to remind everyone that we are Tennessee and these blow out losses are unacceptable. He doesn’t understand how we can’t stop a slant. He thinks we have major coaching issues with Weinke and others on the offensive side. He blames this loss on Pruitt. He doesn’t understand how you pull your QB to just put him back in. The QB carousel is outrageous and us not having another QB ready after three years is unacceptable. He said you could see the team quit after JG’s first drive and the coach not firing up his team is not good. We are more talented than Kentucky and we were just straight out coached.

I will never see a good Tennessee program again.

I have never seen a good TN team. And after today I'm convinced I will never see the Vols in Atlanta in my lifetime.

Pruitt has killed all goodwill. GSU and BYU last year, KY this year. He has an Auburn road win to really hang his hat on and that’s it.

At this point it will take a win against Bama to get it back and that ain’t happening. Perhaps a win against Florida To close the season but I don’t think that will happen neither.

not really....he is not a baby learning to walk. It's football....he will be ok. throw him out there....other teams do it.

I've seen plenty of QB get shell shocked from getting blasted early in their careers. Even in the NFL it happens. A good QB can become a bad QB if you throw him to the wolves.

This is the biggest issue I have. It's year 3. If we don't have someone on the roster who can perform better than JG, we have bad coaches.

I have a problem with CJP publicly blaming CJC. When he hired JC as OC, he did so because he said that he didn't want to worry about the offense. He has handcuffed him with JG as QB. CJP needs to teach the defense how to defend slants, and how not to crash down every play and lose edge containment.

I assume Chaney helps make decision on the QB. I need to see something to refute that.

Chaney has not had a good year calling plays. The defense has not been the problem this year.

I think and hope, there’s a shakeup this week on this team, from QB on down. Then it’ll be the assistant coaches in off season.

Another game or so like this and I’m not sure you wait until the off season.

Not making excuses for Pruitt. That being said if you look at our upperclassman we are middle of the pack SEC at best. Not a lot of contributions coming from your upperclassman. Now I know some of these are Pruitt players he had to load up on from JUCO when he first got here.

FWIW I hope Palmer comes back another season. Another year of experience and a better QB will help him. Also Brandon Johnson helped himself by sitting a year and coming back.

It’s fair to point out the reality. Pruitt has had 2 classes here. Just 2. I don’t count that ‘17 class he had 2 weeks to throw together.

His second class are freshmen. There’s a lot of promise there, but we have had this dumb covid thing, and thus his recruits, sophomores and freshmen, have had no offseason development. That has hurt this young team. No question.

I still think we need some staff changes at certain positions, and he should’ve brought in a QB transfer, but you’re correct to point this out. We all knew there wasn’t a lot of upper class talent on this team. Our best pass rusher is a guy who wouldn’t start for any other team in the conference except the bottom teams like Vandy and others.

I understand Coach Pruitt wants to take our lumps with JG, but you also need to win ball games. He should have been pulled after the 1st pick 6. That's two turnovers that he cost us. I also didn't see Pruitt get in his grill after the turnover. No reason to keep him in the game at that point.

I can almost guarantee you that JG will not be at Tennessee next year. Hell, he may even be in the porta potty before the season ends.
