We're entering cold and flu season with 60K new CV19 cases yesterday, and the daily moving average has begun creeping back up. With Trump downplaying the virus ("Don't be afraid of Covid!"), scientists are concerned that his base will disregard mask use and social distancing, and that the death rate may spike to 3K+ by December. Seems like a huge number given the advancements made to combat the damn thing, but I would agree that we're going to see a huge spike in cases now. It would not surprise me to see well over 100,000 new cases a day by December if not November.

"The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation updated its projections [last week], estimating 410,451 deaths from COVID-19 in the U.S. by Jan. 1. The new projection is more than twice the current death toll, which stands at approximately 187,200, according to Johns Hopkins University.

The institute also projects a dramatic increase in the daily death count, which could rise to as high as 3,000 per day by December.

If people wore masks as recommended by health experts, deaths could be reduced by 30%, but the institution noted that mask use in the U.S. is on the decline, particularly in the Midwest, including Illinois and Iowa, despite the states experiencing increasing case numbers.

The institute's previous death toll projection was 317,697 by Dec. 1.

"We extended our forecasts to January 1," the estimation update said. "We expect the daily death rate in the United States, because of seasonality and declining vigilance of the public, to reach nearly 3,000 a day in December. Cumulative deaths expected by January 1 are 410,000; this is 225,000 deaths from now until the end of the year."

It is pretty amazing. I obviously hope and believe they will be wrong (again). This is the same group that predicted 3000 daily deaths over summer. It also assumes the US daily death rate will be higher than our current worst day (2900 deaths) over a period of 60+ days. It really is hard to take that number seriously and see it as anything less than blatant fear peddling.

We have states that can't even correctly report their flu statistics yearly ( they mix pneumonia with flu) and I'm gonna rely on them for info being correct? More power to those that 100% buy into the numbers being correct. I'll go by what I see with my eyes and what my contacts at other hospitals tell me.

A national mask mandate won’t do squat. Plenty of testing is available now. The vaccine and treatments have been accelerated as much as possible and Biden, the Dems, and MSM have whined and bitched the whole time.

Yeah I laughed so hard when I saw that on the news.... coughed into his hand.... half the interview it didn’t cover his nose.... sometimes it rode below his mouth.... couple that with him walking around his town hall talking to people in close distances while not wearing a mask..... I don’t believe he truly believes the mask nonsense he keeps running his mouth about.
