The most ridiculous "no call" against the Vols ever?

Oh, can’t forget the “Dooley Rule” game against North Carolina where the ref announced that the game was officially over; but then they still made TN come out of the locker room to replay the last down (in which NC had the penalty) ending in a UT loss,
NEVER bring your team back in the field after the game is over. Even if you wind up with a forfeit

This still makes me sick. Worst call against us ever.
There was a touchdown by Earnest Graham in the 1st half of that game that was almost as bad as the Gafney "catch." Graham's knee was clearly down at the 2 yard line before he ever "scored." Ironically, it was at the same end of Neyland as the "catch." Must have been one helleva glare at the goal line that day. 🙄

2010 LSU. The ref is supposed to stand over the ball and allow the defense to react to the offense’s change in personal, he didn’t do that which led to us not having enough time to get all of our extras off the field

That was the same season as the Dooley Rule bowl game against NC too wasn’t it? Derick Dooley, 0 and 2 in games he had actually won. (declared the winner at the end of regulation). I still feel bad for him on those bad breaks.
when it gets right down to it, Tennessee has been “robbed” more often than a stagecoach line that didn’t allow “shotgun” riders

Yup, found it. Al Matthews was the line judge that made the call. Put his his hands immediately to signal TD. Then pulled them down before signaling touch down again. Head of Crew had to ask him if he was certain and he affirmed touchdown. Still smells fishier than a Lake Chickamauga bait shop on a 100 degree Saturday in July if you ask me. And the stench has not lessened in the two decades since.

He was Allama Matthews when he was playing for Vanderbilt. He was first team All-America as a TE in 82.

Yep 2010 was rough

The one-two punch of losing to LSU for having too many men on the field on the last play, then losing to UNC because THEY had too many (17!) men on the field on the last play, still infuriates me. And then they had to change the rules... the Dooley rule 😂 How there was no runoff rule in place already I will never understand.

florida dropped TD pass, 2000

"Jabar Gaffney NO CATCH" on YouTube

By a referee that was a Vanderbilt grad that was throwing his hands up before the ball even got to the receiver.

He hates us. Bald headed black dude Vandy grad, he has screwed us so many times in 330 CBS games on national TV that he would be our husband in a "common law" state like SC.

I am STILL steamed over that one

I was there behind that end zone with my Dad...maybe 10 rows up. Happened right in front of us , I was so angry that I couldn't even speak. We were both silent . I saw my Dads eyes leak a little walking out of the stadium that night. He didn't even cry when cancer took him 2 years ago. Blew our chances for another championship...

In my opinion, that might be the worst call to go against Tennessee I’ve personally seen.

This. In my 43 years it is definitely the worst. That same dude has made terrible calls against us for as long as I can remember. That Vandy grad hates UT and cannot hide it

I can't even watch it anymore. It absolutely makes me furious every single time...and i think about how miserable my Dad and I were walking out of that game. Tickets were over $100 bucks each also....to be kicked in the balls and feel like throwing up.

That’s when you wish like in tough high school games, you have the bus running at the end of regulation and the coach just runs the players straight off the field and onto the bus and get the heck outa dodge.

THIS! I am still raw today as I was when Vandy grad Hubert made that call. I detest seeing him on an SEC officiating crew to this very day.

I distinctly remember the head official coming on mic and saying time had expired and the game was over. It was several minutes later that they started pulling players back in FROM THE LOCKER ROOM. I am sorry, but once the game is declared over, you NEVER bring the players back out. But I guess that wouldn’t be fair to the players; but if someone is going to violate you like that, the least you can do is refuse to pull down your own pants.

There sure have been plenty, but one of the worst "no calls" I ever saw was during a game against Bama years ago. I forget the year, but the Bama QB went down to one knee while still holding the ball, then pitched it to a running back who ALSO was down on one knee when he caught the pitch, who promptly raced off for a long gain. Both calls missed on the same play. (Of course, how we failed to stop an RB who was kneeling when he took the pitch is our own fault). I think this may be around 1990?

And yes, I know, this happens to all teams. But seems like some are more "equal" than others. :D

Edit: I think OrangeJuiceJones and Orange Alert are right (below) -- I think I had the wrong decade. Maybe 2002?

As far as most ridiculous call: That Florida game in the 90's at Neyland when QB threw a pass that bounced off WR and it was declared a TD with about a minute to go ranks up there with me. This was before instant replay.

Edit: just noticed the video from "The Ron Mexico" . That's the one!

The Oklahoma receiver who stepped out and back in to get PI was pathetic! Also in 2014 Florida snapped a field goal after the click turned Zero and they counted the FG.
There was one in Knoxville when we drew a PI call in the end zone and the ball doinked off the wall behind the back line. So much for a pass having to be catchable.
Edit: also against Oklahoma

If the extras had been running to the sidelines when the ball was snapped that would be a decent argument. But they were all in the formation at the snap. A couple of guys had started off the field and were waved back on.

2010 UT had a real gripe about the UNC game. But the LSU game was simply Dooley out Les-ing Les Miles.

It’s still a violation of the rules and protocols of that procedure of the game

I gave you a like for the amount of detail. And also because of your lake chick reference.

It shouldn't have come down to it, but when we lost to Memphis in 1996 on Memphis' kickoff return for a TD, he was down. His elbow hit.

What always bothered me is that we ran the ball about 65 times that day with Peyton Manning at QB.
