After that win, here is my predictions for the season:

USC - W
Mizz - W
UGA - L
UK - W
Bama - L
Ark - W
A&M - W
Aub - L
Vandy - W
UF - W

We win 7 and go out with a win over Florida in JG's swan song.
IMO... I think we beat Auburn and lose to UF. But I agree with 7-3. That would be a great season for this year.

Yeah you're right, missing open receivers isn't a big deal.

Sure they are big deals BUT they happen in every game with even the greatest QBs of all time and that’s why I brought up Brees last Sunday night.

they are even bigger deals when you are trying to overcome bad decision making and turnovers and that’s the reason those missed opportunities last night didn’t cost us a win.

I watched a lot of football yesterday and Imo JG was the 4th best QB in the SEC yesterday. I know we all want him to be the best but if we can say he was the 4th best Qb in the league at the end of the season we will have won 6-8 games.

The thing is that he can be a lot better. He is a very skilled passer. It was encouraging to see him give us a couple of positive plays with his legs.

Yes. I was surprised by his shiftiness. Would like to see him keep it more often on the run-option when the defense collapses on the RB.

We did not abandon it so much as not ever really going to it in the first half. The offense scored 17 in the second half after only scoring 7 in the first. A strong running game had a lot to do with that.

I like that JG acted like he still had the ball after the hand-offs. It froze the LBs just a bit that helped open up some big lanes. I don't remember him doing that last year.

You’re right. JG’s decision-making was well above the norm for conference QB play this week. Further, he didn’t turn the ball over. He missed some open guys, but outside of Joe Burrow last year, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a QB who didn’t. Was JG perfect? No. Does he have some things to work out mechanically with his delivery before week 2? Absolutely. Did he consistently pick the right place to throw the ball, while never threatening a bad turnover? You’re darn skippy he did. Frankly, if he serves as a game manager, that’s probably good enough this season to win more than half of our ball games.

How are he and his family doing?

He has thankfully had no side effects from radiation. Oncology team was confident in his strength enough to let him come home for the weekend so that’s great. His older brother really boosts his spirits too. They’re very close. Thanks for asking.

Bingo

I was just looking at box scores from Yesterday and looking at jones at bama reminded me that what we saw from JG yesterday is what bama has had at QB many many years under Saban

Off the top of my head, in the first half we threw on 3rd and 3 in positive territory and thought we should run. Then I can’t remember which half but got the ball around midfield and think we threw 3 straight plays.

I like Chaney, but he has to be really good to help JG be really good.

My take on the game is this: We had some great flashes both offensively and defensively and some major inconsistencies on both sides of the ball. Definitely need to get everyone healthy and set in the secondary. Yeah, JG was too high on a few throws but let's not forget what Pruitt said about the lack of receivers available for a long stretch of fall practice, plus I thought there were a couple he missed on that receivers had good chances to catch, namely the deep ball that the receiver didn't get his head turned back around to track and I also thought, even though it was a bit high, I thought Fant misjudged his jump and reach on the ball down the middle. I too believe, especially after that opening drive of the 2nd where we ran it down their throats, that we would stick with that more in the 2nd half but seemed like Chaney got away from that too much for my liking. But I will gladly take a tight, hard fought win on the road to open the season than a loss. We will get better. What about Roman Harrison and Omari? Did they play last night?

Or rockets. It seemed like the pressure of 3rd down got to him, and he forced too many instead of taking his time and passing with touch.
Some were from pressure., for sure, but I think he flat out missed a couple. Still, no TO, and a few really nice throws. Happy to get out with a win.

Mac Jones is at least #3.

No, not pressure from the other team. Mental pressure. Trying too hard. I felt like he treated 3rd down differently, instead of relaxing and waiting for the plays to develop.

Move both Corral and Jones above JG and I think that’s where we’re at after 1 week.

My opinion. Think it'll take more than the game, unfortunately. Never believed he had "butter fingers" at RB, just reached the point where his aggression overrode his sense of ball security and football IQ.

He has all the tools to be one of the greats in either position. But until he finds the balance of *controlled* aggression, he's gonna continue to teeter between awesome asset and liability.

That is an excellent way to put it Charger.
