Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

For those in Knox County, the back and forth between Mayor Jacobs and the Board of Health has been very interesting. They’ve essentially accused him of threatening them because of a video he posted saying that these are dangerous times and that only people that are elected should be able to make laws. It’s getting very heated.

well, he’s right isn’t he? Elected officials can take advise from unelected Boards. But ultimately it is the elected officials’ responsibility to take the advise under consideration and make the best decision they can given ALL the facets of a crisis to best help and protect the people who elected them.

He is, but the board doesn’t see it that way. They are starting to show exactly why they shouldn’t be allowed the powers they have. Jacobs himself he could understand if it was only for a weeks as we were told in the beginning, but pointed out there is no end insight. He was very eloquent and is being made out to be a bad guy by the board.

Trump claims White House can overrule FDA's attempt to toughen guidelines for coronavirus vaccine

President Donald Trump claimed Wednesday that the White House could override the US Food and Drug Administration if the agency released tougher standards for the authorization of a Covid-19 vaccine, casting such a move as "political."

His comments come as the FDA considers new Covid-19 vaccine guidelines that would likely push an authorization beyond Election Day, according to three sources familiar with the situation. That timeline would dash Trump's hopes of a pre-election authorization, having repeatedly said the vaccine could be ready by November 3.

"We're looking at that and that has to be approved by the White House. We may or may not approve it," the President said of the new FDA guidelines at a White House news conference. "That sounds like a political move."

The FDA "respectfully" declined to comment on Trump's claims. But generally speaking, agency guidelines do go through the White House Office of Management and Budget review process, an FDA official told CNN Wednesday.

Anyone here support this insanity? Trump is pretty much writing the book on how *not* to get people to trust a vaccine and be willing to take it.

You should be happy. Only his most ardent supporters will take it and if they die you win. If it works you win.

You don’t have to always be a glass half empty person.

You're revved up like a runner in the night.

Also, the board extended and broadened the alcohol ban, despite area hospitalizations decreasing, plenty of room in ICUs, and no evidence that large clusters of cases were coming from restaurants and bars. The HD has been asked repeatedly to demonstrate justification for these mandates, and they have not been able/willing to do so.

Those damning emails from Nashville might have been the straw that broke the camel's back. Folks are done with the crap. If anyone doesn't believe me, go downtown this weekend. Maybe somebody can post a Periscope for the local bunker boys.

I emailed the BOH today. Not that it will do anything but might as well make my opinions known.

If they cant offer justification they shouldnt be allowed to do diddly.

This is what happens when we allow public health to become a partisan adventure.

Doesn't Dr. Buchanan report to Mayor Jacobs? If he was as serious as he's pretending, he would have terminated her by now.

I take issue with producing that video at all. If Mr. Jacobs wants to change the law or procedures, there’s a way to go about it. It seems more like intimidation than trying to find the most efficient way to get Covid info out to the people.

Cuban is out of touch. I have visited numerous clients and hear strories in mfg that they cannot find people to work. Look yourself as these mfg plants have little signs out front begging for employees with even wage listings. Get to work America.

This. I cannot drive home without seeing a dozen help wanted signs. No more stimulus checks needed.
