2020 Presidential Race

The examples go on and on. Eugene McCarthy got Woodstock level crowds AND Woodstock level organization when it came time to get people into voting booths.
The world needs more men named Eugene. Don't see it nearly enough. Best NFL nickname in the history of football, Eugene the hitting machine Lockhart.

I get it, Rifle. Just never witnessed it.

McCarthy didn't have a chance against the Kennedy Machine and they backed Humphrey after the assasination

Of course, crowds are better than no crowds. Obama and W famously had their crowds canvas neighborhoods, register voters, or just go early vote and log it with the campaign to make election day GOTV work better.

Maybe Trump is doing all of that.

There were several large anti-war events held that year and McGovern was a anti-war radical.

Yes, there are often large crowds for figures who partisans see as a conduit for bringing fringe beliefs into the mainstream. More common on the left, these days, but Pat Buchanan was a good example of someone who could pack them into a rally but just couldn't quite break though on the right.

Based on crowds, Elizabeth Warren or Bernie probably should be the nominee, but these days there are dense populations of very liberal and very conservative voters in many places in the country. Kind of easy to get a big group of either of them if you are shoveling the right BS.

Unfortunately, the ones who don't shovel the BS don't have any crowds.

And Bernie probably would have been if the democratic establishment wasn't rotten to the core. They screwed the dude over twice and all he can say is thank you may I have another?

If there were only something the followers of our favorite socialist multi-millionaire could have done to overcome all this.

He's very popular with the good people in the real world. The NE, west coast, and failing D cities are another matter.
Last week my “tree guy” from Huntsville stopped by and gave me a Red Hat that says TRUMP 2020.

Yesterday I wore said hat when buying some wiper blades in the local auto parts store and was greeted kindly and even got a thumbs up from one of the customers.

Now, if I wore that hat down in Houston it might be another story. But I am not that stupid.

I assume Trump makes money off the sales of Trump memorabilia. If so, the presidency has been a lucrative gig for him.

Anybody know what's the story on the money earned from the sale of Trump merch???

The part I found crazy when I watched the debates was how the candidates attacked Bernie and especially little mike but pretty much left Joe alone when he was the favorite.

My wife told me there was a Trump rally vehicle parade over the weekend on Murfreesboro Rd going from downtown Nashville headed to Murfreesboro. They had Trump signs, American flag banners at least 25 cars deep.
