But I thought America was fine until Trump divided us?
No one ever said that.
I said Trump made us MORE divided.
I also said some find integration divisive, some find segregation divisive.
Many of you miss the point of that.
Two people can both feel divided but for vastly different reasons and one of those reasons could be much more appropriate and valid than the other.

How big is your continuum on "relatively"?

Continuums really don't come in sizes.

So your last comment is really where the rubber meets the road. Two people can feel divided for two vastly different reasons. Conflict comes when one side says its actually ok to live harmoniously amongst division while the other side claims that harmonious living can only be done when less appropriate or valid reasons have been expunged.

But she fails the abortion litmus test because the Catholic "dogma is strong in (her)." Thanks ever so much, Dianne Feinstein.
The only real public statement she has made about abortion is that she doesn’t think Roe will ever be overturned.

In June Medical Services, Clarence Thomas dissented calling to overturn Roe. 0 justices joined his dissent. So even if she is for abrogating then case, Trump needs 3
more votes to get there.

I think it’s likely that, based on what Republicans have done here, a states ability to limit abortion does grow. But the idea that “they” are going to do away with Roe altogether is unsupported.

Idk what Barrett would say about abortion. I’m sure she’s personally against it. I’m sure, as an originalist and a Scalia disciple she believes it has been grafted into the constitution. It’s hard to evaluate a judge’s views on Stare Decisis until they get to the point that they have the final say. Kagan, for instance, has sided with conservatives out of adherence to decided law, probably as often as Roberts has used the same logic to side with the liberals. That’s where overturning Roe is an issue.

At times that is true. If the cause of the different feelings of division is something like slavery being legal, then yes.
If the cause of the different feelings of division is peperoni vs sausage pizza, then no.
All other issues are somewhere along that continuum.

Yea. Both parties literally have their opponents position from 2016. Yet only “one” is being labeled hypocrite.
all politicians talk out of both sides of their mouth. They take the position of what is appealing or convenient to them at the moment without regard to what is right. How anyone can stand up and try to defend any of them is beyond comprehension to me.

Segregation is inappropriate and invalid?

What's the standard that makes the distinction?

If some division is good, and some isn't, that is. I mean, the definition of division includes differences of opinion. Whose opinion makes one acceptable and another evil?

That’s the other problem...we would need an objective third party purveyor of truth to answer that question.

If one was going to be intellectually honest. Or else just admit you're making arrogant, self-aggrandizing horse caca statements when you're calling someone horribly evil, as opposed to trying to act like you're making moral/ethical statement.

"Trump and his supporters are evil for having different opinions than me" just doesn't have the same ring as "Trump is evil for dividing the country". It turns out, all Trump did was allow people to express their morally-neutral opinions that don't align with Luther's.

Huh. I wonder if they can live with having different opinions than luther.

That was the point of the question.

(HINT: If they're building an all-black community, it's not voluntary segregation. They'll need to keep whites from moving in.)
Yep, and they'll need to fix the roads so a $87/gallon gas tax might cover half of it.

So Romney gonna support nomination. Sigh.

Apparently he's been living in a different United States the past couple decades.

Romney told reporters on Capitol Hill later Tuesday "my liberal friends have over many decades gotten very used to the idea of having a liberal court. And that's not written in the stars."

Good, you guys no doubt will cheat in the coming election. America doesnt need the 3rd branch of gov being another arm of the new communist party. Romney knows the importance to fill the seat with an American and not a puppet for communism

How's this?
If anyone did not see that Trump would inevitably cause the repubs to drag themselves down, cause the dems. to drag themselves down, cause the media to drag themselves down, cause each individual to drag themselves down, and cause the country as a whole to drag itself down.....then they are non-functioning.

I think you are so used to teaching kids who cant debate your thinking that you have gotten to the point that you just say every stupid thing that comes into your head.

You really need to get someone in your life who will help question you and make you question yourself occasionally.

Seems you are surrounded by just kids and yes men.

You literally just blamed every single bad thing in America on a man who has only been in office for 3 1/2 years whole acting like the previous 200 years was a total cake walk filled with ponies and unicorns and slavery never happened, presidents werent assassinated, jim crowe never existed, Japanese were never placed into camps, obama never sarcastically said elections have consequences, and college kids werent fired on by the national guard, and on and on and on.....

You need some serious perspective.
