Bowman said they could go with Erlin on 3 days rest Thursday and then bullpen. But with no off days till next Thursday I don’t think that’s a good idea.

There are no guarantees Wright or Tomlin can give you five innings and you know Erlin on short rest can’t give you five. Might as well call up whoever is scheduled for Thursday at Gwinnett.

The other thing is (whether they want to admit or not) is that Erlin cannot start in the postseason for you, so why even continue to give him starts? Folty and Wright are much better options (assuming Folty’s velo is back). And I’d rather not start Tomlin in a game 4 elimination or series clinching game.
