Yeah QB play/improvement will be the single most important factor of us having a real break out year or just a decent/average year.

Podcast made it sound like Gibbs wasn’t going to be much of a factor this year anyways. He may just be a great athlete but mediocre football player.

Guess some of that insider info we received last year about Gibbs tearing it up in practice was just an exaggeration. I believe some of the information was no one could cover him.

I don't remember exactly what he said, but it was after he beat us as the USC HC and said he loves seeing our fans disappointed faces.

Because Mullen showed up in 2018 and Franks went from 9 TD/8 INT the year before to 24 TD and 6 INT in 2018. 143 qbr. Went from .34 YPC to 3.18.

I don't think anyone wants to hear that answer, but there it is. I fuggin hate Mehlen, but he is a QB guru. Just like Pruitt is a secondary guru. Facts are facts. Hate and a measured sense of respect can go hand-in-hand.

I have mixed feelings on this. I think he is good at putting his players in a position to succeed in his offense, and minimize their weaknesses. I also think he is an elite offensive play caller.

That being said, I think when people start touting how great of a qb coach he is, they forget about how terrible Tebow’s mechanics are (which sunk his NFL career), how much work Dak put in outside of MSU to be an elite passer, and how terrible as a passer and reading coverages Fitzgerald was.

But, he also helped put Alex Smith in the NFL, which are two more successful QBs than a lot of college OCs can say they have put in the NFL.

I don’t know. He’s a weirdo. He’s a gator. I choose to just hate him regardless.

Really? He’s had 4 winning seasons in 4 years and been to 3 bowls. He beat UK in his first ever game. USM has been either great or awful the last 15 years, and he was pretty consistent. I wonder if they negotiated a buyout because financially, I assume it would be better to get fired.
