Guys I'm absolutely heartbroken. My dad passed away from surgical complications early Wed. morning at Vanderbilt hospital. He had a heart transplant 17 years ago and had just received his second on Tuesday. The surgery went well but his valves were too fragile for the heart to properly connect to and they weren't able to get his bleeding under control.

I've never really shared much about my personal life on here but my dad was a huge reason why I'm a Vols fan. Our shared passion for the team was an amazing way for us to bond. We would constantly text each other about commitments and would always talk on the phone after games...if the Vols won. If they lost, we both needed a day or two to cool off before mentioning it, haha.

My wife and I are expecting our first child in 6 weeks. It would have been his first grandchild. He was so excited to meet him/her (we don't know the gender yet), and now he won't be able to. My brother said that he will be our child's guardian angel.

I've read so many posts about people losing loved ones in these threads over the years and they've always touched me. Because I've always known my dad's life expectancy was going to be cut short due to his health problems and transplant. He got a second chance at life in 2003 but he paid dearly for it. He had so many procedures and operations to keep him going afterward and he took an entire pharmacy's worth of pills 100 times over. But he never complained and just kept going. Unfortunately, he ran out of gas at a time when I needed him the most, but my family believes that he was simply too tired for another fight and that he was at peace knowing his family was in a good spot.

My wife sent this pic to me last night of the three of us at the TaxSlayer Bowl in Jan. 2015. We attended many games together over the years and it was an annual tradition to meet up for at least one. I'm going to miss the hell out of him and I will never be able to watch a Vols game without him thinking of him and wanting to call him afterward to get his thoughts. Hug your loved ones, guys.

Sorry for your loss Aesius. I lost my dad when I was in my 30's. Been a while but I still think of him several times a week. However you handle his loss, try not to let it effect your family. I went into a deep depression and it was hard on my wife and friends. Please dwell on your future, especially on your child, and know that is what your dad would have wanted. Your mom needs your help. My prayers are sent for your and your family. GOD bless.

I remember being puzzled when we signed him because we already had Little Man and Aaron Hayden. Then, I saw Charlie Garner run with the ball and was not puzzled about that every again.
Majors apparently told Stewart he was second fiddle as soon as he signed Garner.

ehh you’re putting a lot of faith into their inexperienced OL,which has also inherited a new offense, adding to the fact they don’t even have a starting QB named less than a month out before their first game is pretty bad.WR are no good if you don’t have a QB who can throw it to them or a OL to protect him as we have seen the last damn decade...running the ball won’t happen either because of those two scenarios, every team will just load the box as we have also seen...Georgia’s defense will not last all season like this I promise..Georgia’s defense has a lot of pressure on them and they don’t even know it yet.
i didn't put a lot of faith in the o line...in fact i put a big 'if' there regarding the run game, and in a previous post, i talked about how, even for a talented team, it's still a lot to ask when you have so much 'new' on one side of the ball...ol, oc, qbc, qb etc....

i'm just not writing them completley off because they do have a boatload of talent.

Remember whose defense this is.. JP like to flex guys out on the ends on passing downs.. he loves those linebackers that can play all 4 spots.. look for QC and Banks to be on the field together on passing downs a lot with QC coming off the edge
Good point. Either way I think we are more solid at the LB position then people are expecting.

We may think he sucks, but dude bleeds orange.

The young man is all heart! I really hope he can put it all together and blow the doors wide open on this offense this year. He really does deserve it with all he has battled through in his career with the coaching changes and then the broken wrist last year, yet he continues to battle. He truly is a Volunteer… That is what we do.

He does deserve it..... hopefully all that hard work pays off. Sometimes you have it and sometimes you don’t. Guess we will see.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I like to think of them in "the other room" and we just can't see 'em right now. We can't hear 'em or hug 'em. Some people talk about letting them go ... I prefer to recommend that we hold on to them, tightly. We have memories, and we can replay them anytime we want. Watching ball games together, picking blackberries under a scorching sun, meals at Calhouns and Burger King, hikes to the top of the Chimneys, and cliff jumping at the Forks!
After all, they are still alive and well, right?!? They just don't happen to be in the room I'm in. One day, I'll get up and leave this room and join 'em. Till that day, we will miss the sound of their voice, the look on their face, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

Wow, can't wait to have some Fulmer type OLs once again.

Those holes were HUGE

I don’t know if it was because the holes are were huge, I think the RBs were just taught differently then ours have been in recent years. I think Graham fixes that.

Our RBs in recent years would just see collapsing and then make something else happen knowing that our lineman probably weren’t going to do their job.

Fulmers running backs were taught to hit that hole and go no matter what because those lineman were gunna fight until the end. Notice some of the holes hit weren’t even really open but because the RB trusted his lineman to do what they were supposed to the RBs busted through with tons of open field.

Yup, 25 when mine passed. I just looked at it like, "hey, at least I had a dad. Shoot, a great dad. A great dad that loved me. A great dad that loved me until I was my own man".

What more could one ask for? Grateful is all I could feel at that time. The only thing we can control is how we react to things that are out of our control. See the positive.

Man...this makes me pull for the kid so much..He makes my sphincter tighten up every time he drops back, but I hope he proves all of us wrong in the greatest redemption story in Tennessee history...I doubt it, but would love to see it.

I'll be on board for any arc that involves good quarterback play.
