Lane Kiffin (Head football coach of the University of Tennessee)

Dude, you need some anger management classes.

i'm not even the slightest bit angry. I just want you to actually be able to pull this thread off. Fix your flat billed 5150, get it on just right, and list us some reasons why Kiffin won't work in Knoxville other than "he just won't".

Bob Stoops was a solo coordinator for only 3 years. Kiffin was Co-OC for 2 and also spent 2 years as an NFL head coach.

Stoops ran the D totally at UF......complete control of that side of the ball. SOS gave him complete and utter rule, and everyone knows this. Big difference.

PS - he FAILED as a HC.

Hows the Bush family doing these days? Living large I'd say. You dont think Bama has a grudge? Kif would be under the microscope here.

and Kiffin was recruiting coordinator and OC at USC. Produced some of the best talent college football has seen this decade.

and PS. He didn't fail as HC.

That's a good point, maybe we're both at the extremes.

But Kiffin doesn't have half the resume Stoops had before going to OU. He paid his dues......can't say the same for Kiffin.

Kiffin:

97-98 - Fresno St QB Coach
99-00 - Colorado St. O-Line Coach
01 - USC Tight End Coach
02-06 - USC WR Coach
05-06 - USC Off Coordinator
07-08 - Raiders HC

Stoops:

89-90 - Kansas St DB Coach
91-95 - Kansas St Co-DC
96-98 - FL DC

Granted Stoops was a coordinator a little longer, but I wouldn't say there's a huge difference when you look at those side by side.

A couple of NFL legends failed even worse with the Raiders.

5150, do you realize that we are now on the 4th page and you don't have any actual facts or evidence pointing to why Kiffin would fail? Just your opinion? that has earned you this:

Carroll failed in the NFL, Saban, Spurrier, Butch Davis, I can keep going if you'd like. Just because you're not a success in the NFL doesn't mean you can't get it done on the college level.

oh my goodness. Stats. Of course, no mention of the fact that he was coaching for Al Davis who didn't give him any control and anyone that knows anything about football knows he was improving the Raiders. We possibly do have a winner. Not only in Kiffin, but in you. You finally found some stats to backup your (albeit weak) argument.

Bless your heart. Why don't you take your valium and call it a night?

Look at his record JA. Speaks for itself. Type in WIKIPEDIA and take a looksee and tell me he is UT HC material........do it with a straight face.

Now take a look at how Art Shell and Norv Turner did with that team. Bob Stoops, Pete Carroll, and Urban Meyer would tank and tank hard in Oakland.

So now its Al's fault.....ok

I'm sure ole Al didn't put a gun to his head and force him to take the position.

yeah, his record at USC is quite remarkable. It does speak for itself. The fact that he had the Raiders improving with a qb he didn't want and an owner/gm that has an ego bigger than texas and wouldn't give Kiffin any free reign over his team tells me all I need to know about his coaching ability.

maybe he didn't put a gun to his head, but i never said he did. But no one, not even Al, has denied not giving Kiffin control over the team or playcalling. Seems to me a competent GM would see that Kiffin did quite well at playcalling at USC and leave him be.

There are plenty of former Raiders players that haven't been shy about who's to blame for the mess in Oakland.

That's my point......why would a "up and coming coach" be stupid enough to put himself in that situation?

He wasn't ready then, and he ain't now.
