Since you asked not to be told, I won't tell you about Texas. I will tell you that Texas offers an option wherein you can pay an approved private company to administer the road test. Don't know if Georgia offers that option, but it was well worth it. Something you might want to check out.
Sounds like a racket

The extra year of eligibility doesn't count against scholarships in 21-22. Time to load the wagon.
Kicked the bucket down the road 1 year. The disaster will be going into 2022 with a bunch of 5/6th year seniors and potentially 100+ still on the roster. But...there's plenty of time to cross that bridge too.

Having really good players who maybe aren't good enough to get drafted means you could have a heck of a team in 2021. Imagine a Daniel Bituli or Nigel Warrior with another year of eligibility.
I think it helps all the lower and mid tier teams. Those that build up rosters with redshirts and veteran players (think about BYU lol) over time. Sort of a wash amongst themselves, since they all get the 'advantage'. The big help is them vs top tier teams. Should be more upsets than ever.

It should be a disadvantage to the Bama/UGAs of the world that rely more on young 5* talent.

If there was ever a chance to turn the tide of a lack of parity, it is now.

This is terrible move by NCAA. Schools are losing millions this year and now for the next several years they will have to pay for extra scholarships. A football scholarship is valued at minimum $75,000 per year. This will only hurt schools even more

Why would they have to pay for the scholarship? I don’t believe eligibility and scholarships have to go hand in hand. I don’t think a school is obligated to keep paying for a scholarship just because eligibility isn’t exhausted.

As of now, it would only be 1 year. But I do think it may have to be multiple years.

The "cost" is made up anyway through transfer accounting. It is basically a line item from the AD to the university. They could...work something out lol.

Do you think players will stay if school is not paying their way?

With the "guaranteed multiyear scholarship" model the P5s/autonomous 5 chose to follow in 2015, I think they would. As long as the player has eligibility, they need reasonable cause to take them off scholarship.

If a team has 100 on scholarship then the school pays for 100 tuitions, 100 books, 100 housing, 100 meal plans, 100 stipends, 100 clothing. Small schools especially cannot absorb these costs.

That's what I was thinking. The teams at the top with a lot of good players that will go to the NFL will lose some of their advantage.
