I think the SEC will try to hold out but the pressure will be too much and they'll cave and start planning for the Spring.

If parents start to advocate for their children playing ball this year I don’t see the SEC caving and not having a season. Also, you think Spring is going to be good? Last time I checked Spring is when everything peaked the last time. Also, Spring is right after the winter flu season which is expected to have flu and Covid..... if anything playing the season now is the smartest thing to do.

I did not say I thought Spring would be any better. I am just guessing what will happen.

I never had any desire to be Colon Coward's friend anyway. I firmly believe cursing is an important part of language. But if do so without good reason or to fit in with a certain crowd, the use of such words loses the power those words should have. Cursing just to make noise is a big waste just to demonstrate that you're not a Nancy

Honest question: why are people still blaming the virus being around/the cancellation of sports on people who didn't wear a mask? Did they think that a bunch of people wearing cloth masks, half of which are worn incorrectly, would eradicate COVID-19? Just starve it out of existence?

Interesting how Japan, a country with massive mask adoption decades before COVID, is having a massive spike in cases right now.
I think because wearing masks has never been the silver bullet. It’s a part of an equation with social distancing and proper hygiene that will lower the impact.

@Atlanta VOL What way is the university leaning on this?
A lot has happened over the weekend so they will most likely get back to it tomorrow at 9am

you don’t want to get me started on the politics at our University. Laughable to me that all these academics can’t understand where their bread is buttered.

This week should be interesting

Wasn't the goal of lowering the impact just to avoid overrunning hospitals? And why would lowering the impact make it possible to play college football? The virus isn't going anywhere. Other countries that thought they beat it with an initial spike, then extreme downturn for months, and are now having surges are examples of this. I suspect most of Europe is right behind them.

Everything that isn't herd immunity or an effective vaccine is kicking the can down the road. I can see the logic of wanting more mask usage and social distancing to avoid a massive spike in cases, but people who act like a failure to wear masks is the reason we aren't playing football are crazy. It seems like people truly believe that 100% mask adoption (which is impossible, and people wear them incorrectly anyway) causes the virus to just disappear. It doesn't. It still spreads, and as soon as those masks come off, it's still out there lurking.

They don’t understand it because they think they are the cream of the crop..... lol, dunno how they don’t understand money flow.

They obviously aren’t generating “millions” of dollars for the University by teaching kids. Lol, Sports and donations from boosters is the money.

Also, can’t be hard finding some professors who want to actually teach..... screw tenure.

Sports pay the way. These kids want to play. Can't strip that from them.. it is their right to be able to play.
