I live in a rural area, and people I know personally have started to get sick and a couple have even died from confirmed COVID. I actually suspect a few deaths I know of in February. It is real, and it’s random nature makes it seem like Russian Roulette. Has there been an overreaction to all this? Sure. I think it’s overblown, but it is the kind of thing you don’t want to be wrong about.

I know that a mask cannot 100% prevent transmission, but it ought to be common sense that it would reduce it.

I absolutely hate how this - like pretty much everything else these days - has become so politicized. As a result, it seems we seesaw between either shutting the world down and cowering in fear or defiantly running around stubbornly daring the virus to infect us instead of trying to carry on business as usual while observing a few basic practices.

Are you a scientist, doctor or otherwise qualified authority?

If not, you're just a non empathetic caveman, whose opinion (no matter how reasonable it might be) does not matter.

Listen to him, many of BaldBiker’s friends were actually cave men, so he knows what he is talking about 🤠

It bums me out that it seems like people need to know someone who died from Covid to take it seriously. We know what works. Italy is down to about 200 new cases a day, 1/10th the new cases in Tennessee. Wear masks, socially distance if possible. That so many people have anecdotes about themselves or their friends catching the virus and having only minor symptoms is why people should wear a mask no matter what; a person can spread the virus despite having basically no symptoms.

There is nothing political about it and it has nothing to do with people wanting to take away Americans' "freedom," whatever that means these days. It is about people who have decided their annoyance at having to wear a mask is more important than the lives of my elderly family members. I was out in 110 degree weather with a mask most of the day yesterday, you can do it too.

If the SEC moves to just one nonconference game, I would play Charlotte instead of Oklahoma. They're on our schedule before Oklahoma and with the move by Oklahoma----it would be like giving them the finger :):):):)
Or tell them we want to move the game up a week with them, if they want to play us. That way they don’t get the advantage of playing a game, and then have 2 weeks of rest and to correct their mistakes. Take a little of their advantage away.

There apparently is a big difference between the attitudes of many Americans and the prevailing attitude of much of the population of Italy. While it may sometimes be misplaced, in general many Americans tend to show courage in the face of a threat. Land of the free and home of the brave and all that.

It doesn’t mean that some of us aren’t stupid sometimes but we as a people generally tend to mask our fear and charge ahead. It’s probably one of the main reasons we absolutely kick the Italian’s butts during WWII. I mean that engagement with the Italians was like the University of Tennessee football team facing off against a kindergarten class. It wasn’t even funny until the Germans showed up on the peninsula and by then almost all of the Italians had already quit the field of battle.

Fear works in Italy, not as well in America. We needed to come with a better way to motivate people for the outcome we desired. My idea was sort of having a mask police force with reverse fines so the mask police would be patrolling everywhere and anytime they saw someone wearing a mask they would stop them and give them a $100 bill. I think that would work better in America than trying to use fear. jmo.

"In the beginning, all of us were shocked by the rules. To be locked in, not being able to travel or meet people, that's very strange for us. Italians love crowded places," Menicanti said. "But the population, incredibly, has followed the rules."

Even today, Italians continue to be frightened into compliance and are "afraid to restart their lives normally," he said.

"I think the feeling of the U.S. population is not the same," he said.

Stop comparing the US to other countries especially small countries Italy’s population is 60,317,000 the US population is 328,200,000 that difference is 5.44 if you are saying Italy’s cases are at 200 new a day multiply that by 5.44 which puts the average case rate at over 1,000 for a population our size.

Hence Italy is not in a better situation.

Seriously dude. Stop with this commen sense crap. You are not helping to keep people scared one bit.

I thought the podcast brought up an interesting question... gist was it was who the mods thought would be "sneaky good players" this year. Or rather who they thought had potential to be.

One of them mentioned Princeton Fant. Said he had all the tools physically to be what they need at TE. Just has to put it all together.

Another threat out Velus Jones - but didn't elaborate as to why.

And I want to say Ramel Keyton was also mentioned.

Anyone have any names they want to add to the list? Kind of under the radar types you think might out perform their rankings or even our fans perception of them?

Think I'll throw Kivon Bennetts name into the ring here. I think he flashed a bit last year. He won't benefit from having an established pass rusher opposite of him this year but I just dig his work ethic and maybe biased by his blood lines. I could see him leading the team in sacks or being right there near the top.
I think Velus will be the JJ replacement. I believe he will be good.
