Jayne Mansfield - Wikipedia

Yep. Her daughter is beautiful and a good actress...and has made it to 56. Mariska Hargitay.

I apologize for the lack of fishing pictures. Unfortunately I have not been getting out as much as I would want to for various reasons. As we all know this has been a very strange year. Among the stress of trying to get my girlfriend moved here from California, potential layoffs at work (I think we are okay but you never really know), the general state of the country, and my mind adjusting poorly to working from home months in a row, I have not been getting much sleep lately and have been struggling even with medication that I have given up on because it doesn't work and makes me feel like ****. I guess you could say with all this going on I haven't been in a posting mood, much less an argumentative one.. (shout out politics forum :) ) Here are a couple pictures from the few times I have been out. I need to get back into my every-other weekend groove soon though, plus it's going to be shrimping season soon.

To be fair, it was awful nice of me to take a back seat and let y'all get out there and catch some.

Nice to hear from you. Glad you're getting along in this craziness. If you ever need to talk, don't call me...I don't like gator fans. ;)

First, hope and pray you're all good man. We caught a bunch of small stuff last week, nothing really big, but fun. Sharks, croaker, cats. I guess the biggest was my wife catching mangroves. She caught some that were huge.

I was wondering where you’ve been.... good to see you back. I finally got to go deep sea fishing at the end of June and was wondering about coastal lakes and rivers. How to fish them from a kayak and what species to go after

Been a while since I've been deep sea fishing. I need a buddy with a nice boat lol

the main florida inshore species you're going to target are:

Redfish - pound for pound the best fighter you're going to come across inshore excepta tarpon maybe. Taste good too. On high tide, target structure like oyster beds and docks. Dead shrimp/cut bait on the bottom, swimbaits, basically anything shiny to get their attention. They act more like scavengers than active hunters in my experience at high tide but they will often stack up and if you find them, you can catch them one after another. On low tide, i sight fish mostly for them chasing bait around the edges of the sawgrass. This is the more exciting way to fish them but requires more active searching. Cast live mud minnows and shrimp at them when you see them blowing up the grass line.

Spotted sea trout - delicious. you can find them stacked up on the edge of the current if youre lucky, i like to float live shrimp with the current right along the edge on the deeper side and if they get in a frenzy you can really stack the boat this way. But most of my success is trolling paddle tail swimbaits along with the current at high tide. It's not the most exciting but it gets fish in the boat.

Flounder - by no means am i a flounder expert but i get the gist of it. I like to throw live mud minnows on heavy jigheads in creek mouth openings and other choke points like that and slowly retrieve, covering as much area as you can. They are ambushers and aren't out searching for your bait. You have to find them. Swim baits can work too sometimes, and gulp shrimp, using the same tactics. Obviously very tasty.

Sheepshead - deeper water near structure like docks and bridges, look for barnacles. Best bait are fiddler crabs. Sheeps are notorious bait stealers. Like flounder, i am no master. You just have to get a feel fir their bite after a lot of practice. Real good eating.

Black drum - basically the high tide tips for redfish will work for black drum. Taste pretty much the same as redfish to me and you can keep a lot more of these guys, even if they aren't as fun to chase and catch, they still put up pretty good fights.

Snook - I'm a north florida boy. You'd be better off just googling because anything i say is only based off a couple first hand experiences. I know they like live bait fish.

Tarpon - large bodies of water near the coast in the fall, live mullet during the mullet run. Look for them rolling, use heavy tackle, throw your big mullet at them, and try not to get pulled overboard. Another fish i have caught but am no means an expert. This is the big boy inshore prize.

Good luck

One thing I can't make. Tried grouper, Tilapia, and Cod. Looks good though.
I am not big on fish tacos to begin with, but I am trying to get more fish in my diet so I gave it a try.

Taste was fine, but I was immediately thinking "not as good as my chicken, pork, or beef, tacos".

I dont think I will try it again, I know better ways to serve fish.

At least I think it's you I bich about my female boss with.

I got a call from her right after lunch saying she wanted me to send some digital drawings to the City. They had to be packaged a certain way, and they are a couple months old so they are buried in our files somewhere.

I said ok, I will get it done.

She calls two hours later about something else. I tell her I will jump on that once I get the drawings out. She asks why am doing the drawing stuff? Uhhh, cause you told me too. Told me who, what, where, and why of what needed to be done.
"No I didnt want you to spend time on that. I wanted you to delegate that to someone else".

For the record I am the only one on this project. I dont have anyone who directly reports to me on anything until we need specific help on deadlines.

Why the eff she call me to delegate her delegating? Why not just delegate right to the person she wanted doing it? Or why not tell me to find someone else. I am not on a deadline so there isnt anything pressing I am putting aside for what is a pretty high priority on a project i am the only one working on.

Freaking women.

Yeah it’s me. And mine is the same way. If we get a tasker from her that we know is dumb we just ignore it cause normally she just forgets.

Policy says I have to inform her of my intent to apply for other internal jobs. I did that last Friday. Things are getting interesting now...

I am guessing she hasnt gotten to the "acceptance" stage? Not real for her yet.

So the reason I told her now is my mid year review was yesterday. I didn’t want to drop it on her in that I know I wouldn’t like that. So I told her last Friday when I was talking about something else. And there is actually a compelling business case why it made sense and I pointed that out.

But yeah it started out with well she will have to talk to her boss (he’s useless too...) and see if it makes sense blah blah blah. I reminded her of it during my review and the tone had changed. Guess she had time to check written policy to see she alone couldn’t block me at least 😈 nothing is done till it’s done though. And if I have to I’m prepared to play the “let me move or I’ll just retire” card if I have to.

Also the director whom she’s supposed to be supporting chewed on her ass for personnel decisions without including him. But he already indicated today to them he won’t block me.... because I already told him I’ve spent 30 years building that dept if they need me I’m there. He knows EXACTLY why I’m transferring 😎
