Michigan teacher fired for tweet.

I respect my teacher friend’s right to post all they want about how bad Trump is and how great the protests were. They post a lot. I will admit that I do not post my views on Facebook or Instagram for fear of being ridiculed.

There has to be more this than just a tweet.

The 1st amendment only protects your speech from prosecution in most cases. It doesn't guarantee you that organizations can't fire you for your free speech

And I stand by what I said. We dont WANT state govt firing employees over innocuous statements.

It would be a pretty dumb idea to get behind.

And that school is most likely a govt school, not an organization.

That is the point of free speech, to be protected from govt.

I’d hope so

I'm not surprised at all by this. How could any of you be? It doesnt even matter the words that were said.

How have all of you on this board not seen this **** coming? Hell, I saw it coming when myspace was around. I appropriately kept myself and my personal business off of social media and away from these idiots cause its super easy to see group think coming with social media.

What us more tragic than this teacher getting run out on rails for no reason is the fact that the people who object to that nonsense (which they most certainly should) keep blasting every thought, meal plan, home repair job, new love in their life on a freaking open internet for any of these jackholes to stumble upon.

THAT is what I cant figure out or accept.

VOLNATION is different though.....probably why I waited so long to "speak" on here. Nobody knows who I am.

I come from a family of teachers. Several are quite active on their “personal” social media accounts. In fact, I have seen several IG post with the hashtag “teachingispolitical” attached to the post. When you look through that hashtag though, it’s pretty clear what that actually means.

More stupidity by school officials. As this article points out, other teachers including current ones have posted the same type of comments but from the other side of the political aisle. I am sure more examples like those can be found once someone starts looking through social media. A good lawyer will have a field day with this.

Why do you care what the OPs opinion is on this? And let’s be honest, not everyone can be fired for any time nor any reason. There is definitely bias in that regard. Nick Cannon is a perfect example. So is Jemele Hill.
They don't come any more racist than Jamele Hill

Of course you do. You just don't want them against your side
Nice job lefties. You have turned the country into a place where someone who says "I support the POTUS" or "I care about every person" is considered hate speech and worthy of unemoyment.

If you have your way, you and the libs will have concentration camps and slavery back in style in the next 50 or so years.

Yep. I'm wondering if there was more to the tweet than just "Trump is the President"
Why was the Step-mother of the Atlanta cop that shot the thug that stole his taser and shot it at him was fired from her job a day later? Other than being associated with the cop?

It's the new liberal agenda for the masses either get "Woke" or be canceled! Period!

Agreed, that is a union state, if the teacher was fired there is likely more to this story.
Simply because there is a teacher’s union doesn’t mean you can’t be fired, it happens all the time. It’s a fallacy perpetuated by a few urban areas with strong unions. Most states have unions that are very weak while others have no effective union at all.

Yes, but given this is a strong union state I can't help but feel there's more to the story of this firing, I wouldn't be blind sided if it was as described either but just find it unlikely

You either get "woke" with liberal anti-Trump/anti-American agenda or get canceled and you will probably be called a racist! To the insane communists there is now no other options your either with us or you can no longer exist!
