Expectations

BJ teams in 61 games won 34 lost 27 in 4 seasons
and 10 games in 5th season

If we play 13 games next 3 years
that will be 64 games by end of JP 5th year
Pruitt Our record first 2 years is won 13 lost 12
over next 3 season if we win 7, 8 & 9 total wins 37 wins with 27 loses a little better than BJ .
think this should be the very bottom.
Anything below that Pruitt should be gone. That's 7.4 wins a year
the anomaly would be if he wins a SECeast on 9 win season & competes in SECC or pulls out a win
buying him more time
Are you a big Booster or involved with the board of trustees? If not , you have no clue.

If we play ball this year, this is first year in a long time I seriously think we will do better than projected. I think it’s easy for someone who doesn’t follow UT to logically say we are slowly moving the ball forward. I’m not sure folks realize how talented and OLD our OL is. No unproven talent in our 2-deep rotation. Continuity on OL is a huge value. Pruitt will have D rolling. I’d say we are closer to min 9 win YOY minimum threshold than we are the 5-6 win cellar we were in.

Why even bother being a fan if you're only expecting to be on par with Ole Miss and the like. Lyle had back-to-back 9-win seasons, which were the best seasons we had in a decade, and we were all saying what a disappointment it was that we didn't win 10+.

And it was a disappointment. He had a loaded roster. The man beat UGA and FL and still lost the East.

It took Johnny Majors 8 years to win a SEC title would we give Pruitt that long which would be in 2026

Well, uhhhh. Johnny had serious Vol pedigree and history, notwithstanding that little national title on his resume'. Jeremy has never held even one collegiate HC position. Not certain that we've got a solid apples to apples comparison here. But, both certainly signed on for a serious rebuild.

I want to win the SEC Championship. Everything after that is icing on the cake. To me, the only thing bigger than the SEC Title is the National Championship, and if you win the SEC, you're in the mix for National Title hopes.

Everything I wrote has happened vs a hypothetical that could happen and is my opinion that is the bottom especially after loses to GSU & BYU at home in 2nd season.
So you have to be a Trustee or Big Booster just to have an opinion. Guess Volnation is not a part of America.

No they don't but we do need 4 years of top 10 recruiting classes. We currently only have one under CJP. Let's give him two more years and see where the cards falls.
Top 10? That makes the class what? 5th or 6th in the SEC?Development and coaching only goes so far.

Not enough talk of beating Bama. Beat Alabama and the rest will take care of itself. Beat them in the next 3 years or get out. 13 years is embarrassing. Do we seriously want to contemplate 20 years in a row?
Get out of WHAT?

It should be the goal and expectation.

I just think people are now appreciating how hard it is. Technically, Tennessee has won the league three times in the last 50 years. They were crowned champion two other times without winning the league.

We are a long long way from having a SEC championship program.
Ga. is talent loaded.
Fl has our number.
The west is strong, Bama, LSU, TAM, Auburn are contenders.
Puts us about mid pack in the SEC, on good years.
Can we build to being a champion? That is the question.

Huh ? What exactly is your definition of a long long way ? 5 years ? 10 years ?

I think the realistic expectations by fans should be to win the division once every 3 years and win an SEC Title every 4 years. You would think that puts us in the same discussion as LSU, UGA, UF, Auburn and then one of these days with Bama when they are not the premier program in the country. Internally, the expectation should be to win every game. Those teams I listed don’t win games because they hope to win, they win because they expect to. I was really expecting to see that sort of attitude change in our team this season. It’s time to stop conceding games and go take it.

I can’t believe it’s almost to 15 years now makes me sick to think about losing 20 in a row to those scumbags

Well not our fault the two other times in 85 and 90 you guys were cheating like crazy and ineligible. Still won the head to head with you guys in the 90 season though.

I'm not as analytically astute as most of. you. I just have a feeling we have the right coach and AD to keep this ball rolling. I see recruiting going very well, youngsters who seem to respect and follow their coaches. Another year or so of this mixed with our resources and a top tier quarterback and we just might be special again, despite the Alabamas, Floridas and Georgias.
