If you're going to cook it well done you might as well. Only thing acceptable on a properly cooked steak is horseradish or hot Chinese mustard.

The issue is these people out here who like their steak well done. Gotta have sauce to compensate for the dryness of the meat somehow

Any steak cooked well-done is beef jerky and beef jerky is pointless.

I actually keep one bottle of ketchup in the fridge and one in the pantry. For some things I like it cold; for others I prefer room temp. And I’ll take my steak pan seared, rare with salt, pepper, and butter. The only condiments I need with it are some roasted taters and a cold damn beer.
