I have not had a propane grill in 8 years. I really don't see the benefit. Do they just catch grease? the grill I got don't look like they are needed other than looks.?

They prob help distribute the heat evenly, but I'm guessing. I've only had one gas grill...I prefer to use charcoal

I'm late to the party I guess, I was watching some videos. I see souce got you a link. It'll probably tell you that you don't need them, but they're good to have. They'll keep the heat more even. I would agree. Use them if they came with the grill. If they didn't, use it until you get a chance to get some and get some.
