What should he have done differently iyo?

Preparation before it even began is key. Trump refused to entertain the idea that something like this was possible. With proper prep comes proper supplies and with proper supplies testing on a large scale would quickly allow us to determine who needs to self isolate before they go and infect 100 more people.

our response has done more harm than good because it was a terrible response. We had a commander in chief that continually downplayed the severity to the point that it required extensive lockdown procedures. If he had taken it seriously from the start, a full scale lockdown probably wouldn’t have been needed.
We are not shut down.... now we are just pretending to be shut down

Most of the people had no symptoms.... we weren’t randomly going test every healthy person and having the test the first time.... you practically have to beg some people to take it the second time.

So did everyone else before him. He made excuses for that and was rightfully called out. We knew early on who this was mainly affecting yet almost everyone called for a complete lockdown. That is on him for being a weak leader and not staying the path he set early on but it's also on the govs. Trump can't force anything in the level the govs can

How do you prepare tests for something you don't know is coming?

the first know case occurred way back in November. The first known case in the US was in January. That’s two months of warning to manufacture the appropriate PPE and tests.

Such a weak argument.

We knew what this was in Nov? We knew the impact in Jan? Hmmm I believe there was a different story being told worldwide

If you go by what the CCP claims then sure, it was absolutely a different story. But since we had intel that stated otherwise, and Trump was advised on that intel and did nothing, then here we are.

Was anyone taking this thing seriously? You can say the President downplayed it, but you can’t deny everyone else did, too.

His initial response would have been the correct one wrt shutting everything down but he caved. The ppe was a failure but we would not have the tests necessary based on the number of asymptomatic we know now exist

care to counter argue?
Well for starters you don't have the benefit of comparing what happened to some hypothetical ideal plan. Trump's response and the subsequent outbreak were comparable and superior in many ways to the Western European response.

Second, it's weak because the media and the left were opposed to the travel ban when it happened. Now you want to say they were a month late? Please...

As far as testing, the CDC **** the bed on testing very early on. Not because Trump told them not to work on testing, but because they are incompetent. Ultimately that falls on Trump, but that isn't a problem with policy or response.

Now we are doing more testing than anyone in the world. And that's not good enough, if Trump wasn't such an idiot, we could just do 100 million tests a day and the virus would cower at the sight of all that testing. Silliness.

Finally, even with the benefit of hindsight the media can't even get it right. We are told in March Trump's biggest mistake is not getting ventilators. Two months later, everyone who needed a ventilator got one, and after realizing they are mostly ineffective against the virus, we are now the world leader in ventilators sitting in a warehouse collecting dust.

Imagine a dude, living off a government paycheck, living in government housing and refusing to work.

That’s your president. A republican one I might add.
Pretty sure Trump donates his government paycheck and every time he spends time away from his “government housing” you morons on the left piss and moan that he’s playing golf again.

In case anyone wants to read the "playbook" the Obama administration left. My guess it that they have followed it to a tee and that is why you don't see any of them jumping up and down saying the current administration isn't following it.
Fair warning: It reads like any lead paint or other hazardous material document that Uncle Sam is going to save us with. So grab a cup of coffee.
