Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Anybody else starting to think that if the parties in power were reversed, or if the virus came around in, say, 2012, the narratives the parties are using would also reverse?

In other words, if this occurred in 2012 Obama is the "let's open the economy back up" candidate and Republicans call that a dangerous idea advocated by him only because he wants to get re-elected?
If this happened during 2009-2017 or if hill had been elected the mainstream media would spend their days telling us this is nothing to worry about

What's Joe's plan? Let's compare.

I’d like to know what any of the plans are because this could get really nasty and I’m not talking about a virus either . Sooner or later the virus is going to be less important than the bonfire we are pouring diesel on right now .

Welp here is another of those unintended consquences of this shut down.

My sister is starting her last year of vet school which includes residency or whatever vets call it. But she cant get the required rabies shot booster, which means she cant be around any animals, which is pretty important for her education and job going forward.

In the past she has gotten it from the Health Department. They say they never had them, she calls them on their bs and they say they cant order due to Covid and to talk to her doctor. Doctor says they get their supplies from/thru the Health Department.

I got to imagine this type of thing is going to be popping up in a lot of places. Although my sister says it's rare for people to need the boosters like she does. There are other shots/vaccines out there that are going to be impacted.

Yay government mandated top down shut downs.

Exactly. What's Joe's plan to get the economy rolling again? Raise taxes on the rich and corporations? What's his plan should there be a second wave come Feb/March?

Is there something that keeps the President of the United States from focusing on two things (or more) at once? FDR had a two front war vs the Axis powers to deal with, while also trying to recover from the Great Depression and cope with his own personal battle with polio.

And give me a break... there was never any doubt that President Trump was going to be acquitted by the Republican-controlled Senate. How much time was really spent focusing on the Senate trial, when the outcome was not only a foregone conclusion before it started, but there were also no new witnesses being called? I'm sorry, but that is a weak excuse, for any inaction which may have occurred on COVID-19 in January.

First of all, he did do two things at once. He shut off travel from China on Jan 31st. That was huge and saved many lives. Along with Italy who also cut off travel that day, we were the first to do that.

I think it's only natural that one could be a bit distracted if you're being impeached.

A better question is for the Democrats. They obviously can't do two things at once. They were so lost they were busy calling Trump names for cutting off travel

Other than little drips and drabs of non sensical liberal wishlists, I have yet to know of Joe's plans for anything.

There is no plan for something like this ( sheltering in place while you burn your country to the ground ) , only talking points for voter blocks . Climate change , rich corporations bad , systemic racism ... blah blah blah

Since when is tucking tail and running away, handling anyone "like a boss"? That was the "take my ball and go home" routine, a la Eric Cartman of South Park. It was gutless and cowardly. Trump comes across as having hurt feelings and being hyper-sensitive. Trump has a hard time coping with women who second guess his decision-making, and then follow up on his non-answers with more probing questions. Trump is accustomed to being able to bully women, and he resents it when they stand up to him. Trump is the classic school yard bully. Aside from the facade, Trump is a coward. Cadet Bone Spurs is just who he is. Cowardice is in his blood.

Either you get it and it makes you happy or you choose not to see it because you're too brainwashed. If you don't understand what I'm talking about, bless your heart.

He may of offered solutions from his basement, but the broadcast was glitchy.

Totally agree, but remember even with Trump in the WH the media initially said it was nothing to worry about, travel restrictions are overreactions caused by xenophobia against Asians, etc.

The coronavirus exposes the history of racism and "cleanliness" - Article saying that quarantining people who had come from Hubei Province was "unfairly targeting Asian people"
- Vox deleted tweets/articles from January 31 saying it wasn't going to be a deadly pandemic. They deleted it almost 2 months later, lol.
The racist angle behind China coronavirus epidemic - In early Feb the WHO was advising against travel restrictions, and Al Jazeera said that "something else" (racism) was spreading around the world due to "ignorance and misinformation."

We are at 95% of the typical number of deaths for a time period that starts at the onset of the outbreak. ...5% less people have died compared to recent years.

Like I said, it will go up, and it's sensitive to your start date, but overall, I think when we get to the end of the year, the number of people who died this year will be within the noise of previous years. Primarily because the 50k people this thing will have actually killed (not the inflated crap you see on the news) will be in the standard noise, and a lot of old people and sick people who may have been likely to die anyways. I know that's cold sounding, but when looking at policy, you have to look at facts.
Got it. I’m interested to see final data.

The blatant internet scrubbing is one of the most concerning things. We need a new web source that screenshots and saves all this stuff.

I love it. The media digs in and believes that they are right but are to stupid to realize that no one cares about your racist insinuations like the Asian reporterette of yesterday. What a middle school hack

Of course. They were only saying it then because they (the media) just wanted an excuse to call the President a racist for the 964892837282 time

Social media does a decent job of it itself. If you click the Vox tweet I linked to in the previous post, people replied to it with screenshots of their original tweet, which 100% downplayed and dismissed concerns about the virus.

It is strange with so many living in different areas on this forum. I feel like TN is almost normal again. Other than minor league baseball games, I can do almost anything I want. That said, if I were a restaurant owner, I think I'd still be pissed.
