First, second and third is Pruitt's from Alabama, played in Alabama and coached in Alabama...so, he's got a network...that being said, it's still quite impressive for him to go into the belly of the beast and pull out the top player. Going straight at Bama and UGA is the way to beat them...Brooks is the No. 18-ranked recruit overall out of Handley High School in Roanoke, Alabama. He is the No. 1 prospect in the state. It's a massive commitment for Jeremy Pruitt and his staff to be able to reel in the No. 4 defensive end, and it's a bonus that Brooks is a top-25 prospect and one of the elite recruits from Alabama. Tennessee now has five recruits committed in the 2021 class from Alabama, including ESPN Junior 300 receiver Jordan Mosley.
it makes you wonder. Why are we doing so well in Bama? I am sure Pruitt still has a lot of connections in that state but even with that I have to wonder if this is more evidence Saban and his reign of dominance is slowly coming to an end. I think recruits are starting to wonder if Saban will be there in four years.

Ideally, we hold him, obviously. Pruitt's been pretty good about keeping high priority guys in the fold, outside of a couple of defections last year. Seems most of the guys we lose, there's pretty good chatter about them moving beforehand. I think in this environment, maybe limited travel had something to do with committing early, but could have been him and his family had consistently seen enough of what they needed to see from UT, so went ahead and pulled the trigger. He should help to start building the class.Seems really early for a 5-star to commit, hope we can hold on to him till early signing day. He will be taking more visits once they are able to travel.
That 4 star Safety that UT picked up today was a huge get as well!Ideally, we hold him, obviously. The other thing I'm wondering about is if the high school coach underground in AL knows something? All top programs are always tied into inner circle of state schools...or they should be...can't help but wonder if Saban has hinted at retirement at some point, and if Gus just rubs HS AL HS coaches wrong, and Pruitt's sitting right there as "one of them"...or could be Pruitt's just got alot of HS contacts and he's just beating them on their home field. We have one thing Bama and Auburn don’t have right now — legit playing time to offer true freshman in a big time SEC environment. Butch did a nice job capitalizing on this too.....but as we learned with Butch, if you don’t start winning quick, the big prospects stop signing quick and it all implodes on a dime.

You don't give Saban enough credit. It's far more sinister than that. Saban is actually controlling where all the talented AL kids go that don't fit his program for whatever reason. Instead of letting them gather into competitive classes at Auburn or LSU, he spreads them out among the SEC bottom feeders. Give Vandy one every now and then, maybe a few more for TN and Ole Miss and Ark and SC and KY. Just enough to keep the fan base excited that they've managed to "poach" a 4 or 5 star out of Bama, but not enough to allow those teams to compete with Alabama talent alone. The genius of Nick Saban.
