2020 Presidential Race

I still wonder what pete was promised . Without knowing right now , it looks like he’s the only one not getting a free lunch out of the deal .
I'll get roasted for it, but knowing good guy Pete he probably dropped out and didn't ask for anything. I hope he gets appointed UN Ambassador, I think he would be great for it.

I won’t roast you .. I’ll let the others do it . Lol

Top Muslim political group backs Biden

The nation’s biggest Muslim political action committee is a Bernie Sanders ally.

A group allied to Bernie Sanders is endorsing Joe Biden after the Vermont senator threw his weight behind the presumptive Democratic nominee this week.

Emgage, which calls itself the largest Muslim political action committee in the country, told POLITICO it is backing the former vice president because he supports ending President Donald Trump’s travel ban on several majority-Muslim countries, raising the refugee admissions cap, and reforming the immigration system, among other issues.

"I am honored to receive the endorsement of Emgage PAC,ā€ said Biden in a statement. ā€œFrom small business owners creating jobs to health care professionals on the front lines fighting COVID-19, Muslim-Americans contribute every day to the fabric and success of our nation. As president, I will stand up for Muslim communities across the country, immediately repeal Donald Trump's Muslim ban, and embrace diversity as a core strength of our nation, not demonize it.ā€

Progressive movement wary of Warren for VP

Her bitter fight with Bernie has left a bad taste among some left-wing leaders.

Over the past week, the progressive group Roots Action quietly began circulating a letter to other left-wing organizations, calling on Joe Biden to nominate Elizabeth Warren as his vice presidential pick.

The reception was divisive, as bad blood between Warren and Bernie Sanders' camps continues to roil a demoralized left.

ā€œ[T]here’s a lot of groups that don’t want to get into that,ā€ Jeff Cohen, a co-founder of Roots Action, which endorsed Sanders in the primary, said of the reaction to the Warren-for-VP petition. ā€œThey’re working on other issues.ā€ He said he plans to release the petition in a few weeks.

The ambivalence toward Warren among some on the left comes on the heels of a primary that saw the Massachusetts senator clash with her longtime ally Sanders in starkly personal terms. Though Warren has high-profile boosters — including former Sanders campaign co-chair Rep. Ro Khanna — and polls well as a potential Biden running mate, the fallout from her run-in with Sanders has dampened enthusiasm within the progressive movement for her as a VP choice, according to interviews with more than two dozen left-wing leaders and activists in recent days.

The interviews underscored that the left does not have a consensus vice presidential favorite as the movement lumbers around without a clear leader in the aftermath of Sanders’ loss.

Some want Biden to select a woman of color — perhaps former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams or Rep. Barbara Lee — while others point to a Midwestern progressive such as Sen. Tammy Baldwin. Of the eight progressive groups that petitioned Biden’s team last week in exacting detail about future administration personnel, from transition team members to the National Economic Council appointments, none told POLITICO they had a particular preference for the vice presidency.

Even the Working Families Party, which endorsed Warren in the primary before backing Sanders after she dropped out, was circumspect about its preferred vice presidential choice, saying Biden should choose someone ā€œwho has shown leadershipā€ on health care, climate change and other progressive priorities.

It’s not assured that Sanders or any of the groups' opinions would influence Biden's decision. But Biden has shown a willingness to move left to shore up support among progressives and young people, among whom he lost badly in the primary, adopting several liberal plans in recent weeks and forming policy task forces with Sanders. Many Democrats are also adamant that they cannot repeat the mistakes of 2016, when Hillary Clinton failed to excite some progressives and Sanders supporters, who stayed at home or defected to Donald Trump.

And that’s how the two main political parties maintain their grip on power. People vote for what they perceive as the lesser of two evils instead of the candidate they actually believe in.
It would be nice if we had multiple viable parties. Key word being viable. I don't care for it either, but it is what it is.

How about an Amash/Sharpe ticket? Maybe wait until 2024 for that though

I think the MI Gov is done as a potential VP. But please dear baby Jesus let him pick Abrams..
I'm not sure where Abrams gets this idea she has some big great appeal. I mean I know she has appeal to the far left kooks because she is a black woman...however she isn't LGBQT/Trans, etc.

Yep. I'd add Abrams and Wilmer (not sure if I'm spelling her name right, Governor of Michigan) to your list. If I had to bet on it I'd go with Klobuchar.

He's in a catch 22 on that one. Klobuchar lasted the longest, and IMO should therefore be deemed the most qualified, but she's white. That would cause an uproar in the party. It's color and whose next in line first. Gabbard would give him some cred, is far more qualified than Abrams, or Harris, and also is not caucasion. that would be his best bet.

I might would actually look at Amash as a trump vote alternative, but I think those are wasted votes. In the history of American politics has a president ever been unseated after one term by a member of their own party. I'm not sure it can be done.

He's going to be criticized no matter who he picks. Getting liberals to agree on something is like herding cats. Gabbard is a non-starter, she burned way too many bridges in the DNC imo.

I think she will make her way back as a Republican soon. She didn't really burn the bridges, they were lit for her cause she had her own mind and didn't fall in line like everyone else, talking points and such. For the rest of the ticket, you only really had to listen to one of them to know what they all were peddling. DNC is too blind to realize she was their hope and now it's too late.

She could run as a liberal Republican in the future I suppose. The GOP isn't going to like many of her policy positions, though.

Elizabeth Warren says she would accept an offer to be Joe Biden's running mate after backing her former presidential rival

U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren said on Wednesday that she would accept an offer to be Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden's running mate if the position were offered.

'Yes,' said Warren when she was asked how she would respond if Biden asked her to serve as his vice president.

Biden, who was Barack Obama's vice president, has vowed to pick a woman to be his running mate and said he would name a committee to help him vet a shortlist of names soon.

Of course she would. This has been the master plan all along to get her into the WH. And it was the only scheme that had a chance, although it won't have much chance.

Yeah, she'd have to clean them up a little to make that happen. But, taken as a whole, she should have been the strongest on the Dem ticket.

Do it. Only way things get better is to do something different. Actually vote for the person you can actually support. Dont just keep jumping on the next band wagon. Show some school spirit and actually support them.

I cannot jump party lines for Biden. Especially with how they propped him up and are shopping his mate. I can vote for Trump again first and sleep well before I went Biden. Matter of fact there is nothing remotely centrist in the Dem stable I could stomach voting for other than Gabbard. Maybe one wouldn't like all her policies, but who amongst us that voted Trump has said we even support all his policies, or behavior. She was my look see until they disposed of her, then I retreated back to my side. But, if Amash were to jump in, I would definitely take a look.

Republicans will hate her economic stuff, and many wouldn't like the non-interventionist stuff just like Dems don't like it. Both parties are interventionist.
