Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

On this board if Obama said these words it would be “2nd amendment that commie dictator”. Trump says these words and they vanish like a fart in the wind...

It’s different with Trump. That’s why he’s probably going to get a third term. He gets to do what he wants because he’s so rich.

The lesson here is that the people can be controlled and federal power increased by creating a mass panic.

We haven’t seen something like this in my lifetime but I would bet it happens again within a decade.
Surely not in an election year.

Not to sound like Ras, but 9/11 and the Patriot Act. Lot of government overreach there as well.

I'm not the first to say it but there has long been the thought that large portions of Americans are quite happy with an Xbox, smartphone, and some Taco Bell.

I think we are witnessing that isnt that far off.

We've become a victim of our own prosperity. Most Americans have become too comfortable to risk it defending their rights.

the ban just occurred - he was responding about Trump policy reactions to the Corona virus. His comment directly referred to taking actions that were driven by hysteria and xenophobia. Hard to imagine which policy reactions he was referring to if not the travel ban.

the larger point is making that leap is minuscule compared to the leaps you are willing to make but on this one you simply cannot see the link. It's a double standard which has been the point many of us have been making.

Found the full clip from January 31st. Starts at 7:45 point. I hear zero mention of the travel ban. There is nothing here to suggest that's what he's talking about.

There is no context for saying hysteria and xenophobia without linking it to something Trump was doing about it.

At least he finally came around and endorsed Trump's action on the travel ban. What say you? Was Trump right to institute the travel ban?

It literally disgusts me that my governor thinks it is his role to mandate what we can and cannot do. What is essential and what isnt. That he believes government is big enough to fix the problems it is making. That adults cant be trusted, en masse, to make good decisions themselves.

I had him in high regard, until he caved in to the cowards.

Here our Gov is a figure head only - there's a Public Health official who is quite enjoying his power.

Since I dont vote, I dont have a pony in this race. Biden is pure trash. A 40 year leech politician with nothing of substance to show but some 'harmless racist gaffes". I'm sure his upcoming landslide win will be very gratifying for some.
The gratification will not come from Biden winning, but from Trump losing.
Kind of like when KY beats FL in football. I don't give a crap that KY won beyond the fact that it was FL they beat.

Of course he was right to do it. The question is timing and extent. He probably should have done it sooner, allowed fewer exceptions, and done the same with Europe.
