So not betting on his team is betting against his team? That's a ridiculous assertion. It basically says when he felt his team would win, he bet on them. And when he didn't feel confident in a win, he didn't bet on them. You understand that's not the same as actually betting against them, right?
You also understand that the gamblers knew. It also means he could misuse players or pitchers to help ensure he wins the bet.

Hard to knock anyone for juicing in that era. Lots of reports that 70% or more of players were juicing, including pitchers. Teams were aware of it and encouraged it behind the scenes.

Kudos to the guys who didn't cheat but they were in the minority.
Does not make the records any less tainted.

I used to yell. I really redded out at the 2010 Music City Bowl and calmed down majorly after that. So I basically just do the same thing -- complain here where it's safe.

Haha. I held it together pretty well until the 2015 game against Florida. That was my breaking point. I reacted poorly that game, but I have been much better since.

Were you at that game? I was there with my fiancee. I collapsed in my seat when Grier hit the TD on 4th down but I didn't yell. Everyone around me said, when Butch kicked the extra point to go up 27-14 instead of going for 2, "we're going to lose 28-27." I thought I would die.

Golf is a funny game. He was never in charge of that tournament until the guys in front of him puked it away on the back nine on Sunday. That's golf though. It's not over until it's over. I doubt he can rely on that happening 4 more times.
Did Jack ever win a major because his opponents gagged it away? I bet he did.

Why weren't the steroid abusers banned from baseball outright like Pete? Why weren't the Astros players that cheated even punished?
Because they are not the same as gambling. Also because the player's union has way the hell too much power. It's been destroying the game since its inception.

I'd be down st Augustine is one of my all time fav cities. So when I watch any Tennessee bball or football game my face turns beet red the ENTIRE TIME no matter if we are winning or losing and I get very very quiet in person. I don't ever scream or yell. Instead I just come on here and complain....

Same. My dad and I made a trip down to SA when we were in JAX for the bowl game. He’s a big history buff and had never been. Had a great day (capped with a bowl win).

Eternal pressure from Congress and declining influence of the game due to fan disillusionment with a dirty game. They are desperate to win back fans they lost due to not policing their sport properly.
But homeruns? They love em! Get more! Fans loved the fireworks but true fans saw the sham...and there were several such fans elected who had a bully pulpit. They have the toughest policy in all of sports. Congress just gelded the players union to enable such.

I can't blame baseball for keeping Charlie Hustle out of the HOF but, IMO he deserves to be in before any of the roiders if it came down to it. Whether he bet on his own team or not, he was one hell of a baseball player on the field. And his betting did not help him obtain one single hit of his 4,256. I always despised the Reds and the Phillies both, but I did admire the way he played the game.
Greatness as a player. Hope all of them stay out.

I'd have to meet your grandmother before I can give this post a proper response. If she's as crotchety as Butchna….
Sounds like she has opinions and expresses them. Disappointing...thought I’d invented that science. It’s “crotchety” because you don’t agree with it...keep it straight, Weezy. 😏

According to reports, it was some of the Astros players who came up with the scheme, so apparently some of the players were the organizers. If the Roid players can be considered for the Hall, Pete should get the same consideration. Let the voters decide.
Cool! Kick em all out and definitely bar them from Cooperstown...win win! 😎

Talented WR haul last cycle and getting early commitments from solid prospects so far this cycle, as well. Group effort from coaches? Recruits really excited about playing for Coach Tee? What is y’all’s opinion?

1 round of golf or 7 NBA games between some of the best of their generation? 7 bball games alll day.

Lineups:

95-96 Bulls
Kerr
Jordan
Pippen
Rodman
Longley

Bench (14+ MPG)
Harper
Kukoc
Wennington

12-13 Heat
Chalmers
Wade
Allen
James
Bosh

Bench (14+ MPG)
Battier
Cole
Haslem
Chris "Birdman" Anderson
Miller
Lewis

I'd take Bulls in 6. Tbf they are considered the best, or top 2 of all-time. I'd be more curious to watch them vs the 9-loss Warrior team with their spread offense.
Rodman would get into James’ head and never leave.
