I believe the reason for the smaller box is because the wheat chex are more compact & dense, whereas the corn chex are more "puffy"....need more room in the box to achieve appropriate fill weight.

Ahhhh.. I like Wheat Chex and haven’t been buying them because the box is smaller and it’s the same price as the other Chex. Until today. And you’re right about the Chex comparisons grasshopper.
