Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

It is 1 in a 1000 of all persons in that range. Obviously that goes up upon increased activity among people but we also need to consider that it is skewed towards people with other issues as well.

People need to be allowed to assess their risk level and comfort level with those risks and move ahead as they determine appropriate.

That said, I already know my point is futile. I can know that I would allow my children to go back to school Monday but I also know it is meaningless. As long as you pay public school teachers to sit at home, there would never be enough to voluntarily show up. Regardless of their views on the virus.
The problem is once the cat is out of the bag we can’t just say, “Oops let’s get back inside.” It would already be too late.

And in the meantime you’re asking healthcare workers to take on a lot of unnecessary risk because of the way others feel about their own level of risk. And, as has been stated before, the more people out there infected, the more likely one of them somehow transmits to the at risk groups, that are staying in and doing bare minimum interaction.

If there was no risk to anyone else, I’d definitely be on board that you should be able to come and go as you like, but unfortunately that isn’t the case.

All of this could've and should've waited. Everything you see here is a way to kickback money to them. Not surprising considering the amount of money they're behind with donations compared to President Trump's campaign.

I'd love to see someone try to defend this.

The Democrats wanted it in there? Uh huh. Well, here is the REPUBLICAN administration taking credit for it. And it passed the GOP controlled Senate.

There is risk in any route. We are currently risking the economic viability of millions of people. That has real consequences as well.

“This $1 billion in federal emergency assistance to Amtrak will help maintain service for its passengers when the economy recovers,” said U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao.

Whoa, lady! Quit hogging all the credit!

That is clear. I don’t believe anyone ever proposed that shutting down the economy would be easy. There are significant economic risks with discontinuing these measures, as well as public health risks.

We’d save lives every year if we shut down every time time flu started up, but that isn’t feasible. Epidemiologists and virologists all over the world have deemed this a severe enough threat that drastic measures were warranted. We’ve seen areas pop up across the globe now that indicate the effects can indeed be quite serious.

Just as there are with continuing them.
Yes. I would say the worst of all options would be... Lockdown. (You are here) Lift lockdown. See a bunch of people get infected and die, resume lockdown. Stay locked for way longer this time.

The consequences of that are so profound that I think riding out the initial plan for a few more weeks is easily our best option.

No way he wants to lose his income tax deductions....

Not sure why you went there, but it was just an honest question.

I don't have kids but I have friends that do and they are split on it and was just curious what PJ thought since.
