Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I don't find it surprising at all that Ben Shapiro would try to fuel the hate that the right desperately seeks on a daily basis, it's sort of his thing, after all.

Shite straw man, buddy; I'm not asking you to take blame for them but you don't have to defend their derangement either.

How hard is it to respond "No" to that question?

That's not true. The Frasier Institute is actually being kind here:
Waiting for treatment has become a defining characteristic of Canadian health care. In order to document the lengthy queues for visits to specialists and for diagnostic and surgical procedures in the country, the Fraser Institute has—for over two decades—surveyed specialist physicians across 12 specialties and 10 provinces.
This edition of Waiting Your Turn indicates that, overall, waiting times for medically necessary treatment have in-creased since last year. Specialist physicians surveyed report a median waiting time of 21.2 weeks between referral from a general practitioner and receipt of treatment—longer than the wait of 20.0 weeks reported in 2016. This year’s wait time—the longest ever recorded in this survey’s history—is 128% longer than in 1993, when it was just 9.3 weeks.
There is a great deal of variation in the total waiting time faced by patients across the provinces. Ontario reports the shortest total wait (15.4 weeks), while New Brunswick reports the longest (41.7 weeks). There is also a great deal of variation among specialties. Patients wait longest between a GP referral and orthopaedic surgery (41.7 weeks), while those waiting for medical oncology begin treatment in 3.2 weeks.
The total wait time that patients face can be examined in two consecutive segments.

  • From referral by a general practitioner to consultation with a specialist. The waiting time in this segment increased from 9.4 weeks in 2016 to 10.2 weeks this year. This wait time is 177% longer than in 1993, when it was 3.7 weeks. The shortest waits for specialist consultations are in Ontario (6.7 weeks) while the longest occur in New Brunswick (26.6 weeks).
    • From the consultation with a specialist to the point at which the patient receives treatment. The waiting time in this segment increased from 10.6 weeks in 2016 to 10.9 weeks this year. This wait time is 95% longer than in 1993 when it was 5.6 weeks, and more than three weeks longer than what physicians consider to be clinically “reasonable” (7.2 weeks). The shortest specialist-to-treatment waits are found in Ontario (8.6 weeks), while the longest are in Manitoba (16.3 weeks).
It is estimated that, across the 10 provinces, the total number of procedures for which people are waiting in 2017 is 1,040,791. This means that, assuming that each person waits for only one procedure, 2.9% of Canadians are waiting for treatment in 2017. The proportion of the population waiting for treatment varies from a low of 1.7% in Quebec to a high of 5.7% in Nova Scotia. It is important to note that physicians report that only about 11.5% of their patients are on a waiting list because they requested a delay or postponement.
Patients also experience significant waiting times for various diagnostic technologies across the provinces. This year, Canadians could expect to wait 4.1 weeks for a computed tomography (CT) scan, 10.8 weeks for a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan, and 3.9 weeks for an ultrasound.
Research has repeatedly indicated that wait times for medically necessary treatment are not benign inconveniences. Wait times can, and do, have serious consequences such as increased pain, suffering, and mental anguish. In certain instances, they can also result in poorer medical outcomes—transforming potentially reversible illnesses or injuries into chronic, irreversible conditions, or even permanent disabilities. In many instances, patients may also have to forgo their wages while they wait for treatment, resulting in an economic cost to the individuals themselves and the economy in general.
The results of this year’s survey indicate that despite provincial strategies to reduce wait times and high levels of health expenditure, it is clear that patients in Canada continue to wait too long to receive medically necessary treatment. You are being redirected...

People aren't coming here for cheap healthcare, but come here from desperation. Those that can afford it. Those that aren't are suffering and even dying.
I didn’t say medically necessary, I said emergency. Vastly different. I need glasses but I don’t have them right now because I can’t afford them on even what most would consider to be good insurance. I also have what I’m guessing to be a cavity on the left side of my mouth and have had an undiagnosed pain in my left foot for at least 3 months all because I can’t afford to have them treated. Those are all likely require medically necessary treatment not emergency treatment.

So I’m left to manage those things without medical treatment. I’m not complaining about it, it’s just the facts of what I’m dealing with. In Canada I could at least seek medical treatment without fear of cost for the treatment.

That's a specious argument. By your logic, unless there is an immediate consequence, no answers to any questions are valid or indicative.
You're a fked up human being if you can't answer "NO" to the question posed.

They understand it’s not real and there are no consequences, so they aren’t answering truthfully. They understand that saying “no” means making Trump look bad, but nobody dies. It’s a stupid thing to do.

Those people also said they’d leave the country if Trump got elected. They are blowhards and not to be taken seriously.

Some people did. These people were asked if they'd choose more suffering and innumerable deaths or Trump being in office.
Yes, they are to be taken seriously, that they hate Trump more than they love their country or fellow human beings. They're shitey human beings.

But please, continue their defense.

You should know better than to assume with me . I asked for JUST ONE program ran by the government ( ever ) that has been successful, not in the black , and saved is money without costing quality .

I tried to give you some credit, but your metric says clearly, that you won't entertain a proposal, because you don't have an example of the government saving us money?

Give me one insurance cost projection that won't be unaffordable by the majority of taxpayers at some point, and I'll tell you that it isn't inevitable that we go to taxpayer funded healthcare.

You know Republicans try their best to dismantle government. So you may want to ask them why do they intentionally make things NOT work? They break it so they can stay on the government payroll to try to "fix" it only to break something else.

I don’t have to ask republicans or democrats . The problem is that our government was never set up to run like a business. It has zero penalties for making bad decisions , it can and does change the rules when its suited to them , it doesn’t go out of business based on bad choices and unwise practices , the board of directors can vote themselves raises at any time . There is no incentive to make the programs better because they are going to receive tax payer money regardless of their stupidly . I’ll ask you the same thing I asked Stew .. provide me just one government ran program in our history that saved us money , was in the black and didn’t cost us quality.

It has no impact on Trump; they say "yes" because their corrupt little souls are tending their mouths.

You are playing dodge ball Stew . It’s a very simple request ... surly in our history as a country you can name just one program ... right ?

I’m doing quite the opposite. They are spineless complaining losers that will make big threats and not follow through. They won’t be leaving the country and they wouldn’t trade millions of lives, but their images are so stupidly wrapped up in their political ideologies that they are ok with putting forth the narrative that they would.

I don't think you ever responded to my initial question... lil nimble reb

But I did . I said I had zero interest in the health care for all because I know exactly what that would mean . Then I asked for one program government ran etc . I don’t blame you for not a answering it , IT WAS A TRAP. You aren’t alone though , because there’s no such thing as one , it’s the Mac daddy of all unicorns .

I understand it fine. And nothing motivates someone more than literally not dying. That’s the main thing driving the high cost of healthcare. You can’t put a price on not dying.

As I said, I don’t know what system will work better but the one we have now is broken.
There is no good, cheap alternative. As my grandfather, who was born in 1881 used to say...…….........…….." it costs money to drink liquor and ride the train".

Joint replacement, oncology diagnostics, treatment of tumors correlate to your not needing glasses and your cavity, how exactly? Good grief, man, if you're going to construct analogies the first rule is to do so between equivalent things.

This is why the left should not be trusted with healthcare; you can't have an honest discussion about it, warts and all.

That’s part of the problem, most businesses will cut quality to improve the profit margin. If you’re goal is improving profit at cost of quality most people will choose to improve profit.

Part of a problem vs the whole ugly program in one basket . A government ran health care for all system will not only cut quality , they will raise costs continually and still want more and more tax payer $$$ in the budget every year . Bureaucracy doesn’t change just because the name on the office door of what they are in charge of does .

Ok, I'll say I have no interest in looking into your proof of improving quality at a lower cost, until you tell me when at which point you think it becomes an inevitability.

I don't know what that's called when two dodgeball players just won't be hit.

That’s the fun part , you don’t have too look into anything ... you already know the answer to my question . Admitting it is the only thing left to do . 😊

nah, i probably could find something... like a "free" vaccination program or something (have to keep taxpayers alive, after all). Just didnt want to tie myself up very long... I need to get outside and do some stuff, as its drying out.... maybe later

Pennsylvania Seeking Medical Supplies From Hospital Driven Into Financial Ruin by Venture Linked to Biden’s Brother

Pennsylvania officials are seeking access to critical medical supplies and equipment from an abandoned rural hospital at the center of a fraud scandal involving Joe Biden's brother, James Biden.

Ellwood City Medical Center in Pennsylvania, which is currently controlled by a court-appointed bankruptcy trustee, was one of a string of rural hospitals owned by and driven into financial ruin by Americore Health, a business venture linked to James Biden.

In late January, FBI officials raided the Ellwood City Medical Center and the home of Americore CEO Grant White as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, according to court records.

Local officials said the bankrupt Ellwood City hospital, which was shuttered by the Department of Health in November due to public safety risks, could be reopened to treat an influx of patients due to the COVID-19 crisis. They said it could also have unused personal protection equipment, ventilators, and other medical supplies that are needed for the state's coronavirus response efforts. But city and county officials said they are not legally allowed to access the building because they don't own the property.

The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency has been considering whether to designate the facility as part of its coronavirus response efforts. But the agency is "still in the deciding process," an aide at state representative Aaron Bernstine's office told the Washington Free Beacon on Wednesday.

Until we all turn 65 then we love it!
It's not free after you turn 65. They take a hundred and some dollars out of my SS check. They charge me almost $40 for a prescription drug policy, and my Medicare Supplement policy is about $140 a month. So, my "free healthcare " is about $300 a month, and I don't use it. I go to a pay clinic, and pay by the year. I like the doctor.

Joint replacements very rarely need immediate medical treatment. They do however have a huge quality of life improvement. I should know, I work in total joint replacement surgery.

And I wasn’t saying they’re equal, I was just giving my own personal example. Also I don’t think the Canadian system is perfect but in the long run it’s better than what we have here. Rich people here get the care they need while poor people put it off. In Canada those rich enough come here while the poor people wait. I’ll take waiting everyday over putting it off. But that’s just me.
