Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Cautiously optimistic here...bureaucrats that’ve been head cheese since ‘84 and who are aligned with billionaire vaccine manufacturers give me pause to consider other angles and agendas.

Hoping for the best. I
That give me complete confidence. If he was dumping tons of cash into a certain company, I would too.

Okay, you know better than the epidemiologist guy; 6 weeks, 8 weeks then. That'd probably do it.
Regular people under 60 have tiny to no risk as age decreases and are the vast bulk of the working economy. Why can't they resume keeping this country afloat?
Regular people under 60 are going critical without any preexisting conditions or warning signs. So the problem is we can’t really identify the vulnerable populations outside immunocompromised or old, but we know they exist.

4 weeks isn’t enough time because we’ve seen transmission of the virus 2 weeks after symptoms disappear and symptoms seems to vary as to how long they last, or how long it takes them to arise. And not everyone is going to get infected right away. So if we let up at 4 weeks, there are still going to be a lot of carriers out there. So his plan would need some tweaking if we were to go that route.

How do you build herd immunity when people are staying away from each other?
You have only two options, heard immunity or vaccine. Right now we are just trying to control the spread and treat symptoms to save lives. One has nothing to do with the other. There's a difference between a band aid and cure.

Literally in the story - several CoVid cases are believed to have come from the West Coast and originated in China

Chinese New Year...5000-7000 flight passenger coming back and forth to Cali per day. Why are their #'s less than all others per ratio? Had it without knowing what it is so no stats? Herd immunity?

More like a gun to the head of their Chinese associates by the Chinese authorities.

Exactly what I mean.

On Feb 19th, Fauci stated he believed China's statistics, and that was due to:
1) the CCP strongly stating they would not tolerate misinformation since they were worried about credibility.
2) that the WHO was getting a team on the ground who could verify (that were never allowed into Wuhan).
3.) being able to communicate directly with Chinese doctors and scientists. He unequivocally states he can believe these people.

March 19, Birx echoes that belief:

White House coronavirus response coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx told "Special Report" Thursday night that she believed reports out of China that there had been no new cases of coronavirus in Wuhan, the city where the pandemic originated, in recent days.
"If you watched the trend lines over time, they're similar to South Korea," Birx told host Bret Baier during a wide-ranging interview. "At this time, we believe that data."
However, Birx added, "Everyone is concerned about why we weren't alerted earlier."
That is so coincidentally tied to:

Jan 28, From Xi Jinping
“The epidemic is a demon and we cannot let this demon hide,” Xi Jinping said this week. “The Chinese government has always adopted an open, transparent and responsible attitude to the timely release of information on the epidemic, domestically and to other countries.”
Jan 29 Amid criticism that Beijing was not being transparent, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was effusive in praise;
“The continued increase in cases and the evidence of human-to-human transmission outside China are of course both deeply concerning,” said Tedros. “Although the numbers outside China are still relatively small, they hold the potential for a much larger outbreak,” he continued. “For that, China deserves our gratitude and respect … China is implementing very serious measures and we cannot ask for more.”
“China has been completely committed to transparency, both internally and externally, and has agreed to work with other countries that need support,...“The level of commitment (of the leadership) in China is incredible; I will praise China again and again, because its actions actually helped in reducing the spread of the novel coronavirus to other countries … we shall tell the truth and that’s the truth,” he concluded." and who continued this reach-around for the duration of this pandemic.
..it calls into question the objectivity of Birx and Fauci without questioning motives.

I would say there are other options. We may develop treatments that render the risks of death or permanent damage inconsequential. Virus could mutate into something less harmful or harmless.
Vaccine is probably the end all be all, but there are other routes to normalcy.

Pretty obvious their data was likely manipulated in some way and I certainly wouldn’t have endorsed it’s accuracy like that, but I’m not really sure what options they had other than to use the data available.

As a modeler, you think it is a good job to have actuals of 41k today, update your model tonight and then have projected 98k for tomorrow? Hospitalizations.

No it means the assumptions you were using around hospitalizations require for every death experienced were wrong. It failed to accurately predict that.

I was acknowledging along with many others that something was wrong with the model before it was revised.

I said it has done well with deaths and looks like it is going to handle the peak timing well. I thought it was quite early in its peaks. Looks like they’ll end up being close and that I had peak too late.

Is sarcasm a common staple of Chinese culture, or did he just make an exception here?

The best measure we are doing at the moment is social distancing, isolation, and looking out for one another. We're throwing the book at this thing and that ain't no joke.

Watch: Islamic Scholar Decries Poor Toilet Habits of ‘Impure’ Westerners

Jordanian Islamic scholar Ahmad al-Shahrouri has scolded people living in the West for their “lack of purity and cleanliness” in the age of coronavirus.

He says those living beyond the reach of Islam are more prone to diseases like the coronavirus because they do not wash their behinds with water after using the restroom like Muslims do.

“They have currently run out of toilet paper in their markets because they do not use water,” al-Shahrouri told Jordan’s Yarmouk TV on March 29, as translated by the Middle East Media Reserch Institute (MEMRI).

He added: “They are plagued by these diseases, these microbes and these viruses because they do not clean their filth enough.”

Recalling a time when his “head almost exploded” from the “stench” of two Westerners he sat between on a plane, Al-Shahrouri said Muslims should praise Allah for requiring them to perform ablution, according to MEMRI.

Their subjugated women, child brides, and executed homosexuals have the cleanest bums in the world. Progress.

We literally do not know that avoiding the build up of an immune population is going to wreak future havoc.
